OzH
This will be my third group build this year, so here goes… Not built a Harrier before, so this is all new to me. I will be attempting a Sea Harrier FRS1 using the 1/48 Airfix kit some additional help from Eduard and some resin that I’ve picked up from Neomega and I think from Heritage Aviation While searching around for reference material I’ve managed to come up with this little lot and the Xtradecal Falklands set From all this lot, I hope to build one of the FRS1s that was deployed to the South Atlantic prior to the repaint, so EDSG over white

heloman1
Nice choice Oz, that kit was winking at me from the stash but I resisted temptation. I'l follow your build with interest. Colin
OzH
Ahh, bank holiday weekends, time to catch up with some modelling! So, I’ve been doing bits and pieces on the Harrier over the last few weeks I’ve prepared the fuselage sides for joining together. Cut out the fan intake and moved the fan forwards. I’ve used the fairing from an Academy Hunter (not needed as I have the Heritage Aviation two seat conversion that has the intake built in) I’ve removed the back 5mm of the heat shields so had to patch that area up and I’ve also sealed the inner nozzles as while test fitting the resin ones, one slipped in and I don’t think I would be able to get it out if it did the same once the fuselage was sealed up! Eduard etch added to one of the intakes Cockpit is almost done, kit plus some Eduard etch and the Neomega seat, unfortunately, in order to get the seat to fit the cockpit tub I had to remove a load of that lovely detail off the sides, you wouldn't be able to see it once fitted, but a shame all the same! Sat out in the sun yesterday, cutting resin… still more to go!

John_W
This kit beat me in to submission and went back in the stash. Those nozzles look nice, I covered the house in plastic shavings trying to slim the kit ones down with a scalpel
OzH
I’ve been plugging away on the Harrier Got the fuselage sealed up, wings on all filled and sanded down Intakes are on, I used a spacer on the back of these otherwise the drop flaps would have been to far back. Just a minor word or warning, I you use this set, the starboard intake it a little longer than the port, so you need to take it down a touch more. I also picked up the Pavla control surfaces so have prepared the wings for these Also started some detail on the rudder and started on the cockpit coaming

OzH
I’m calling this one finished.. BAe Sea Harrier FRS.1 XZ453 of 899 NAS. This aircraft was transferred to 801 NAS for the Falklands conflict and ultimately crashed into the sea following a collision with another Harrier, sadly, both pilots lost their lives
