Brewer
Not to waste any time after finishing the Fw190A-8 yesterday, up next we have a whole bunch of BarracudaCast goodies with an Airfix Spitfire XIX to go with them haha Oh, and some Eduard PE and masks while we're at it. I'm also waiting for a set of Miracle Masks from Mal, so those are missing from the obligatory kit/aftermarket photo This one may get put on hold when my Eduard 109G-6 gets here, or I may switch back and forth between the two Edited May 3, 2014 by Brewer
olsen
All the best for this one Jason it should no doubt be another craker ! Congratulations on the 190 it turned out great Cheers, Peter.
Brewer
As usual I started off with riveting, although it doesn't show up very well on the blue/grey Airfix plastic despite being full of sanding dust. I also sanded more than usual to tone down the panel lines a bit. Time to start on the cockpit!
Spikelhund
Will stay tuned Jason, what PRU blue do you plan on using? Cheers...
Brewer
Thanks! The PRU Blue is still up in the air. I don't like MM enamels and Xtracolor is hard to come by here, so I'll likely end up doing my own mix using MrColor Intermediate Blue as a base since it has the same FS number as PRU. I'm not anal about exact color-matching to paint chips etc, as my colors change with my fading and weathering anyway Edited May 8, 2014 by Brewer

Miggers
Is the PR.XIX that bad that it needs all that work and extra resin? Not had my stickies on one but I seem to recall peeps saying that Airfix had done a damn good job with it.
Brewer
It's a great kit straight out of the box, but I can't resist going a little further with it. The BarracudaCast parts are vastly superior to the kit offerings, I'll post comparisons along the way
Live_bait
Lovely project, resin goddies are of great quality. I used the same 3 spoke wheels but in 1/32 for a post-war Spitfire MkXVIe. Those wheels are gorgeous. Edited May 8, 2014 by Live_bait

Brewer
I'm still making progress but a lot of it has been prep work. Here are just a few shots of the BarracudaCast parts compared to the kit offerings. The detail on the resin parts will be easier to see once I get some paint on them, and this is just a sampling of the most visible parts. Obviously the kit seat isn't hard to beat. The top portion of the resin harness has not yet been attached The control column is positionable to match deflected ailerons, but mine will be neutral. Top part of lines added from wire Difference in the rudder pedals is apparent. The resin pedals are not yet glued and still need some position adjustment Again with the intakes the difference is obvious. The Barracuda piece also comes with a filter flap for the inside, not pictured The exhausts are not simply hollowed kit pieces, but the pipes are entirely tubular compare to the kit's tapered appearance. There is also a "rolled" lip on the end of the exhausts on the Barracuda pieces And the wheels need no explanation, there's simply no comparison

Brewer
Good grief, I really should be moving more quickly on this thing but hey - progress is progress, right? Slowly getting the cockpit internals assembled. Haven't gotten the rear section with the cameras together yet
tbell
Looking very nice - always a treat too see your work. If it's not too late, you may consider repainting the camera control box:

Brewer
Doh! I don't know how I missed the camera control box being silver, it's that way in several cockpit reference photos I have, too. Well it's fixed now Finally time to close up the fuselage!
