Arniec
And the first update. I have made the seat and put on the back plate to the cockpit. And also a picture of the start of modifying the tail. I have replaced the top of the tail with a larger piece of plastic. After this have dried I will reshape it. If the tail failes I can always buy a replacement tail. Daniel
A good start, hope the tail works out for you. Dan
SaintsPhil
Welcome to the GB! I have a feeling these little harriers might be popular entries.
Col.
You've made a smart choice to modify the tail early Arnold. Gets it done out of the way to save forgeting later and gives you time to source a replacement if you are not satisfied with the results.
Arniec
Some small work done today. I have finished the tail and removed the 2 inlets(?!) on top of the fuselage. Here are some pictures. The tail after making it the right profile (I hope). The bulges/intakes removed in two stages. bulge mostly removed with a hobby knife. I have taped of the surrounding to safe the nice detail. And here after sanding the rest away and make it look nice again. This is a picture of the model to get a look at how the model is. Boy what a nice lovely kit this is. Now Airfix please scale it up in 1/48?! Cheers,

Arniec
Hi guys, here are some pictures of the first painting stage of the cockpit and air intake. Before some paint. [/url Painted And when I glued the intakes on the fuselage I found out that I have done something wrong. After looking at the manual I found out that I have painted the fuselage side the wrong way and not the intakes. Phew that was close. [url=http://s192.photobucket.com/user/ArnoldCremers/media/Harrier%20GR3/build/IMG_0759_zps01932bf6.jpg.html] Tomorrow I will do some painting and hopefully the decals in the cockpit. Cookenbacher
Looking very good - what was your painting technique on the fan blades?

Arniec
Looking very good - what was your painting technique on the fan blades? That is quite an easy technique. First paint the whole black and when dry, drybrush it with silverpaint. Deadsimple.Cheers,
Arniec
I have made some progress yesterday. I also got 2 goodies from a friend. Thanxs René for getting them for me. Here are the goodies. A Master set for the pitot tube. And a resin seat from Neomega. I made it to fit. I have removed the railing inside the cockpit for this. It is a great improvement on the kit seat. and here are to pictures of how far I am with this build.I have removed/filled all the reams and placed the tail plus cone, the nose and the wings. I enjoy this build. It makes me wander if I am going back a scale. Cheers,
Tim Moff
Good stuff - your post on 4 May, what bulges were you removing and why ? Airfix do a 1/48 GR3, I take it that its poor?
Arniec
Tim, those bulges are on top of the fuselage and i think they were only used on the GR1. The instruction said to remove them, so I did. I hope that Airfix scales this one up. The old 1/48 GR3 is not so good. Take a look here for a build in this GB. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234960320-airfix-harrier-gr3-in-148th-scale/ Cheers,
xffw45343tg
Chaps, the earlier Pegasus 6 engine in the GR.1 had twin alternators that were subsequently replaced in the GR.3 by a single larger one on the left hand side. The twin arrangement required cooling scoops, the single didn't, so the access panels got changed. Kirk

Arniec
Just one week to go!!! No pressure at all!!! I have done some work this weekend. I have finally painted her and I have also put on a coat of klear. Here are the pictures. Just before painting. The first pre shading for the Dark sea grey. And here is the first coat of DSG. I used Gunze for this and I found it a little to dark, so I oversprayed it with Medium sea Grey from Gunze. I also used it for some post shading. I did remember that some one put that online on Britmodeller. I forgot to take a picture off the underside. Sorry for that. Here are the pictures after painting the green on. This colour was also from Gunze and I also used a lighter colour to do some post shading. And finally the model after a coat of klear. It will be tight this week to finish it, but I will do my best to make the deadline. Cheers,
