Luftwaffe F-4F Phantom Special markings question

I have a friend who is building the Hasegawa 1/48 F-4F and using the Syhart decals "50 years F-4 & 35 years F-4F".

Looking to see if anyone has used this scheme on this kit.

There is a large decal that goes on the underside of the a/c, but there as the 2 auxiliary doors that are open where the decals go.

How have other overcome this matter.

I haven't done this one (on my list though) but similar schemes I have done had the same problem. The preferred method I use is to photocopy the decal 1:1 and mark the position of the doors, then cut the decal itself on three sides (can be cut out completelyif preferred), and apply as normal. Use a sharp blade, and there should be no problem.
