This is a virtual OOB build.

The kit itself was no problem to assemble, just fell together!

The decal were a real struggle :(

They folded, refused to move, and tore.

In the end I masked and painted the walk ways.

I panted the model with Humbrol Polished Aluminium Metal Cote, with a top cote of Klear floor polish.

Having just finished the ancient Frog Meteor 4, that does look very nice.

I presume that's the 1/32 Trumpeter kit?

Very nice job . Been meaning to get one of those. Any reason for the mix of war & post war roundels ?

That's the way they came in the kit

There are plenty of examples of Meteor F4's with mixed markings. They were issued with Type "C" WW2 types and gradually changed to RWB markings. The fuselage roundel was first with squadron bars replacing codes...

Cheers

I saw one of these completed at our local club meeting. The only area I have an issue is the extent of the rivetting. I am not convinced meteors were festooned with such obvious rivets.

But it sure looks impressive.

Beautiful Meteor the metal finish is first class,I have just started Revells 1/72 scale kit and would love to get a similar finish how did you apply the metalcote and achieve it?

I just airbrushed it. It comes already thinned for airbrushing.

Once dried I gave it a light buff with a soft cloth.

I believe that they were actually painted silver and it wasn't a natural metal finish.

Looks really nice. I have seen some none too glowing reports about this kit but it certainly looks the part from here, and let's face it we are not likely to be inundated with 1/32 scale 1950s British jets!

Thanks for showing.

Whoosh! Lovely Meteor.

Can't wait to do mine (with Fisher F.8 conversion). Still thinking of 600 Sqn though - did the fuselage decals present any problems?

Most British "silver" aircraft of that era were painted rather than natural metal (with the odd exception).

Airframe Silver or High Speed Silver is fairly dull and does not have any significant tonal variation over the whole airframe. This looks fine to me.

I few days ago I posted up a couple of pictures of my recently completed Frog F4 if you want to see how I tackled the colour in 1/72.

The port side one tore. The bars came away from the roundel.

The decals are very thin and settle down with no problems over the surface detail, but my ones didn't want to move much once they

were on the model :(

That's a really good build. I've just started one, I'm going to get the Airscale IP decals and one of the new AM sheets for mine, I'm still not sure about the blue on the fuselage roundel and the lack of stencils really irks me.

Thanks for that info. I might cut the sashes away and apply them separately, using the Xtradecal roundels (or those in the Fisher set).

Really great to know it was an enjoyable build for you - many 1/32 jets are so bl***y complicated these days!

I've heard a lot of bad things about this kit, but got to say, when it's finished this to this brilliant standard, it looks a great kit! Top work :)
