GernotH
Awesome model, very impressive detail and suitably menacing appearance all round. The extra Army model 37mm guns are also great to see (I forget, but I think there is some discussion about where on the aft superstructure they were placed). Regarding Swastikas, I was beaten up at a German boarding school in Cape Town, South Africa by German youths who objected (or at least that was their excuse, being bullies anything might have done) to my decoration of my room wall with boxart from 1:600 Airfix kits, including the side-art featuring the Kriegsmarine flag, with swastika. Ironically, I used to have to defend myself previously at an English-speaking private school against English South African ruffians who insisted on called me and other German-related pupils Nazis (and the Jewish and non-white pupils had as cr*p a time for equivalent reasons). So it goes! Edited May 5, 2015 by GernotH
Deadman Disciple
A truly inspiring build there. You have done some awesome work there, the rigging lines are class, a museum quality build. Nice one. BTW, how long is she? My 1:400 Titanic is 700mm long, your Bizmarck looks like she dwarf it. Thank you very, very much for all your kind words! The next one - the USS Missouri - is coming soon (or the Nelson?) Cheers Michael oooh, the old Miss, cant wait for that. Hello, a TIRPITZ???? When? Where? I haven't heared about that until now......... WHO KNOWS MORE? I have given it a matt clear coat, followed by several washings - brwon, black and grey BRMichael Im pretty sure I saw a 1:350 Tirpitz in Hobbycraft Wolverhampton, sitting next to a 1:350 Bizmarck (which I intend to buy at one stage in the future) http://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/tamyia-german-battleship-tirpitz-model-kit/573226-1000 Edited May 5, 2015 by Deadman Disciple

Radpoe Spitfire
DIE BISMARCK Scale: 1/200 By: Trumpeter, MK.1 Design (DX complete set), CMK, Modellschlachtschiffe.de, Blue Ridge Models, and more Breathtaking!, absolutley breathtaking! I just don't know where to start paying compliments as the detail on each image is outstanding. As for the rigging I wouldn't know where to begin- it's beautiful. What has impressed me though, is seeing Bismarck finished without the dazzle camouflage. It makes a refreshing slant on the ship's history. As a model of thier ship, I'm sure if any if the surviving crew members saw this it would take them back- no doubt there would be a few tears shed. This model wouldn't go amiss gracing any maritime museum. Such is the detail you can almost wish to be shrunk to the scale and be able to walk about the decks and take it all in. I could spend hours looking over this model and still go back for more. No disrespect to any surviving RN crew who in 1941 went through thier own horrors as they were on the receiving end of her firepower, but I've got a very soft spot for the ship, it was one of the most beautiful looking designs of battleship. If you will please add to that, Baron von Mulenhiem-Rechburg's account of what was happening to the Bismarck's company, as she was under attack had me sobbing when I read about the dreadful loss of life in the harrowing last moments. I would not of wished such fate on any sailor, friend or foe to have undergone through such horror. Thank you for sharing this wonderful work of art, for it is a true masterpiece - you can keep your million dollar paintings and sculptures, I'd settle for something like this any day. Regards Adrian. Radpoe Spitfire
thanks for the additional info Michael......and, yes bring on the Swazi's It is a sad fact that however hated the Nazi use of the swastika, it is part of the ships history- it's no fault of the ship it was adrorned with such symbol. I find it strange that one hand the symbol is banned, yet on a visit to Germany I found that efforts are being made to accept the wrongdoing by rightly preserving the concentration camp at Belsen. I also acknowledge that it was banned to prevent its use by Neo - Nazi groups, but you cannot fully accept history by destroying every element of evidence, in fear of it being used again- it only drives it underground. Head in the clouds.
You have done yourself proud with that model, top job sir. Both HMS Hood and Bismark fascinate me still, my great uncle went down with the Hood so his history and that of his ship are of interest to me, apparently, before HMS Hood sailed on her last voyage, her Chief Stoker was abscent and my great uncle voluntered to go in his place. The rest is history. HMS Hood, in my oponion, is the most graceful of warships, for her part, Bismark looks exactly what a battleship should look like, brutish, menacing and dangerous. Both wondourful ships. I look forward to your HMS Hood build, please do a WIP as I would like to build this model and I will need all the help I can get

Mick4350
Only one criticism and it should read " Der Bismarck " as Die signifies femininity as the Germans described their naval vessels in masculine terms. The Bismarck was a male and wasn't referred to as a woman as does many other navies around the world.
