Speedman
Build 18 This is a very old kit from Otaki, but it looks to be a thousand times better than their F-100D that was released around the same time. (Possibly the worst kit I've EVER worked on!) This will mainly be a OOB build with a bit of rescribing. Speedman
Wings and fin/rudder engraved and the fuselage is together.
kwaterous
looks a helluva lot better than the spit and the tempest
Speedman
Cheers The wing is on after a lot of dry fitting. I kept fitting it and finding the rear edge of the wings were not perpendicular to the centerline. It turns out that the lower fuselage section moulded to the one piece wing is out of alignment. So every time I lined the fuselage section up the wing was out! I've now aligned it via the wings but I've got to do some serious cutting & sanding to get the fuselage to line up. STILL not as bad as the F-

Speedman
You love a bargain. I certainly do! I have more money to spend on filler then... Filler... Filler... Filler...

Speedman
I realised the nose gear bay was too far forward so I've moved it back 4mm. It doesn't sound that bad until you work out that it's 57cm when scaled up!
Speedman
I needed to weight the nose so I rolled some paper, glued the seam, plugged one end with rolled up tissue paper then soaked the plug in CA to harden it. Once my tube was made, I filled it with Liquid Gravity and CA then glued the whole thing into place through the intake. Have I just invented the "Heavy Metal" cigarette?
Speedman
Lot's of details finished today. I used blu-tac to keep the undercarriage in place while I checked it was sitting level.

Speedman
The main painting is done. Despite it's age and flaws, with a little work it's quite a nice kit

Speedman
I've given it a pin wash, painted and fitted the undercarriage, fitted the intake cone and applied the decals tonight.

Speedman
Just one more thing left to do and it'll be finished
Speedman
Finished I airbrushed some silver on decal paper and feathered some black over it to make the auxiliary intake holes. My tablet's camera just makes it look like a black square , hopefully my proper camera will bring out the detail. I'll post some proper photos when I can.

Smudge
I have enjoyed your builds in the Gallery, they look great for such a tiny scale. Your small details make all the difference. The Flipper is a cool choice!
