HEY ALL,

A quick update today. The build is going slow the past week. We have had a new member, baby boy, join the family this week ( not mine). The tempiture outside has been nearly 100 degrees for days now, and I was at a critical junture on another build that I needed to get past.

Just this one photo for today. These are the parts for three more Water Cooling Radiators. These parts are for the fan box's. I had to slow down my cutting technique somewhat, because the parts are very thin and delicate and I really wanted these to stay in one part. The parts are to be applied the same way as the first radiator build, so no difference there. Just a repeat pattern.

More photos later, Thanks All.

Probably just as well he isn't yours - he'd have been twice the size of any other babies around! (But with beautiful details...)

Thanks Guys for the comments.

HEY ALL,

The Water Cooling Radiators are still under construction. The last two weeks have been a little wacky, life gets in the road sometimes.

The first photo shows the fan bodies under construction.

IMG_0244_zps0ab701e3.jpg

This next photo is of the completed fan box's

IMG_0245_zps62568f0d.jpg

This next photo are the parts for the three pullies and screen guards.

IMG_0246_zps9525221c.jpg

Here are the three fan box's with the pullies and screen guards installed. The top right fan is the one I built realier in this chapter.

IMG_0247_zps7acdd032.jpg

Now I have to build the three electric motors. Another production line to build these, so I'll be back later. Thanks!

MANFRED, Thanks for the sweet words, greatly appreciated.

HEY ALL TOGETHER,

The post for today is to wrap up the fan building chapter. The last round of fans are the Water Cooling Radiators. I had four of these to build and install. I'll wrap this chapter up thusly.

This first photo today is of the three electric motors. These have been built but not painted and installed.

IMG_0249_zps711d3548.jpg

This next photo is of the four radiators together.

IMG_0250_zps850170f0.jpg

This photo is of the back side of the four radiators, with the electric motors installed and painted.

IMG_0251_zps52d1b87b.jpg

two of the radiators installed into the crawler.

IMG_0252_zps089d023a.jpg

IMG_0253_zps0ca7ef77.jpg

And now, the completed fan chapter. A month and a half to build all the fans and radiators.

IMG_0254_zps4086332b.jpg

It's at this point that the fan chapter is now finished. I have a few small items to catch up on. A few screens and blocks to install, I will photo these for the next posting. Then I get to do a mass production of fresh air vents. Thats all for today, and for this chapter. Next up...vents. Thanks all!

People say I have a huge amount of patience to build bar armour but that pales into insignificance when we see the quantity (and quality!) of the construction work you are undertaking!

Hi Rich,

Wow jaw-dropping.gif I fully agree with Kallisti, you did a fantastic job with all the fans and radiators, :goodjob: for which you need lots of patience.

You know, I love this tiny stuff, very impressive! n060.gif Keep on scratching, but watch out, this makes addictive. shocked.gif

KALLISTI,

Thanks for the comments! I know just what you mean about bar armour. I have a IDF, D9r bulldozer with PE bar armour to build for it. Very small stuff to work with. But thats a ways down the road for me at this point.

MANFRED,

Thanks for the nice words!! You know me and the small details, I'm totaly addicted to working like this.

HEY GUYS,

So, OMG! I absolutly forgot to post some photos of the Water Cooling Radiators. I'll get better about posting photos of the actual crawler and the parts that I'm working on. Sorry these are late, next time I'll post reference photos first. Thanks all for understanding.

The first photo is of the radiators from the model build. This view is looking down from the top side.

IMG_0253_zps0ca7ef77.jpg

This next photo is of the electric motor on the real crawler. The motor here has a few more cooling slats than I built, but sometimes things on the model are just to small to work with. This view is at floor level and looking to the inside of the radiator space.

IMG_0251_zps7e585856.jpg

This next photo is of the radiator from the back side so you can see the safty screen for the pully. Also, another shot of the electric motor ans how thing look from the inside of the radiator space looking to the outside.

IMG_0252_zpseee9fa52.jpg

So these photos should have been in the posting instead of a post posting. BTW, the vent build is going fine and I'll have some reference photos first instead of last.

Thanks all for watching, tune in next time for some vents. Thanks!

MANFRED,

Thanks for the complements. Trying to find Apollo area photos is rather diffcult. Sometimes, like the radiator photos, are from the modern shuttle era. But as you can see, the equipment hasn't changed much over the years.

HEY EVERYBODY,

Let me show you about the Fresh Air Vents.

The Fresh Air Vents are a simple air exchange between the engine room and the outside air. As you can see in two photos, that the vents themselves are simply a hole in the floor that is covered by a safety screen so no one falls through. In these photos you can see that there are no filters or baffles to impede the air flow. Daylight can be seen easily through the screen to the outside.

IMG_0255_zps3d5c0676.jpg

IMG_0254_zps6e999484.jpg

To begine construction is the gathering of all the parts.

IMG_0250_zps07ac6aed.jpg

The parts for air vents and of the parts for just one vent.

IMG_0257_zpsadb8dae3.jpg

The vent with the install of directional fins.

IMG_0258_zps0faa0011.jpg

The construction continues.

IMG_0259_zps0e303f22.jpg

This is the space where the vent is to be located. I have applied the screen to the top side of it's location on the inside of the Engine Room.

IMG_0260_zpsc8ae3c3f.jpg

In this photo you can see that I have mounted the vent itself, to the uderside of the crawler. This will be painted when I get to building the bottom of the carwler.

IMG_0261_zps32b5376a.jpg

And now, a shot from the top side. This looks a lot like the original photos, where you can see through the vent to the outside. Simple!

IMG_0262_zps2631420b.jpg

I now have eleven more to build. Twelve in all to build. Now that I have all the prep work done, the install shouldn't take to long. I'll be back later with final photos of the vent install. Thanks All for watching!

HI MANFRED,

Your right, a lot of tiny pieces, and BTW... 'snever gona end.

HI AGAIN ALL,

The end of the vent chapter!

In this photo are the last of the vent parts.

IMG_0262_zps1e14e8b5.jpg

All the parts, painted and the screens cut.

IMG_0264_zps2dc684ae.jpg

A box 'o vents.

IMG_0263_zps48698343.jpg

The screens all secured into place.

IMG_0266_zps7b0efa77.jpg

These are the vent viewed from the underside.

IMG_0267_zpse53d1148.jpg

And now, the vent chapter is done! These two photos are all the vents installed and finished.

IMG_0268_zps949aa0b3.jpg

IMG_0269_zps3617a3c7.jpg

Now I have a few more screens to install into the Fire Supression Locker. These are simply floor screens, and I have eight of these to install, about half a days work. I'll do this next and take a photo or two to show and tell. After that is done, then it's time to once again, get down with the sickness. The details are only just begining. Tune in next time with the commission of the brand new Electrical Dept. and hard wiring of the Engineers Controll Office. Thanks All, bye for now!

Hello Rich,

the vent chapter is really done, it is hard to believe. :undecided:

But I know the madness is going into the next round, :analintruder: therefore keep the calm and hang in there my friend! :wall:

I stay tuned. gut.gif

HEY GUYS,

The first part of the hard wiring is done. I first had to build the Engineers Control Room "furnature". This consisted of various pieces of computer termanals, work stations, power bulkheads...ect.

The first thing to do was to build these different pieces of furnature.

IMG_0270_zps23305ba4.jpg

IMG_0272_zps3b553c72.jpg

Next I had to build the computer work stations. I built the computer work stations in three subassemblies. These were then blended together to fill one space, and has several work stations together in one location.

IMG_0273_zps8239eabe.jpg

IMG_0274_zps4b72ab5a.jpg

IMG_0275_zps7232bdd8.jpg

A couple of days of building, and the finished computer control termanals. I then painted these a blue-green color ( that I might change to a more blue color later ), and then added graphics to sorta look like a work station. Also the non discript computer bank was painted and the interior was built then painted. I also build and painted the power bulkheads a charcol grey. I sprayed these, to give a contrast to the brush paint of the work stations and to add some different texture to the space.

IMG_0277_zpsc115350e.jpg

And these two shots are of the test fitting.

IMG_0278_zpsc6de6682.jpg

IMG_0279_zpse2b8c846.jpg

Now that the primary build for this space is done and the test fit is good, I will start to add the lighting. This where the new Electrical Dept. comes in. Tune in next time for the light testing of the equipment and work stations.

Thanks all for liking and good comments. Bye for now!

Hi Rich,

you really are an artist, now even as an interior designer and computer specialist. icon_thumb.gif

You did a very nice job with the interior decoration of the Engineers Control Room so far. Now only missing the guys who work at the computers ... :yahoo:

On the lighting I'm curious, which will become certainly spectacular. gut.gif
