Paul Bradley
Does anyone know of any post-WWII FAA prop types, such as the Firefly, Sea Fury or Seafire. Tried L'Arsenal and WEM and neither does anything suitable, even for conversion. Wanting to build both my Heller Illustrious and Colossus, but can't find anything to stick on the flight decks! Maybe I should just have a bunch of crew watching a boxing match..... http://northstarmodels.com/2014/02/new-items-for-ships-in-1350-scale-askold-line/ Honestly, you can buy a boxing match, but you can't buy proper aircraft...... Nobby57
Hello Paul, I know this isn't much help but FYI, a similar question was asked regarding the manufacture of 1/400 RAN a/c. I for one would love some too if I ever get round to a Colossus class carrier in 1/400. I plan a 1945 BPF HMS Victorious from Heller, so L'Arsenal cover the WWII requirement there. But, if you haven't seen it already, here's AMI's thread on the topic... http://www.aussiemodeller.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7558&start=0 As to... Honestly, you can buy a boxing match, but you can't buy proper aircraft...... ...it's the deck hockey set I'm waiting for! ;-) Edited May 29, 2014 by Nobby57
Paul Bradley
Actually, the uckers set is probably next up... Cheers, Nobby! Incidentally, I'm trying to convert one of the kit's Hellcats into a Sea Fury, but it looks more like a Bearcat at the moment - more work needed......! Niall
I found this on Shapeways site - https://www.shapeways.com/model/1945777/1-400-a-1-skyraider-x12.html?modelId=1945777&materialId=6 There are other aircraft models in 1/285, 1/350, 1/600, 1/700 and 1/900 scales. The designer(s) might be interested in doing 1/400th scale versions.
Paul Bradley
Oooh, interesting. I'll need to get in touch with them. Thanks, Niall!
Nobby57
Well done Niall. And Paul, if you have any success please let us know. Cheers, Graham PS Steve Long's last post in the AMI thread, proposing a collective appeal might get somewhere with Kokoda Trail Models. Let's hope! 800 NAS
Just in case you are still looking... https://www.shapeways.com/product/SCNQ6CKNX/seafire-fr47-w-gear-x8-fud?optionId=68305739&li=marketplace I saw he did Fairey Fireflies at 1/400th so I asked if he could do Seafire FR47s for my HMS Triumph build, he obliged! If there is anything else you are looking for, just get in contact through there Shapeways site and he might sort it out for you. Seems a decent sort... When my Seafires arrive I'll try to post a photo of them painted up in 800NAS Korea colours. Nunquam non paratus! Cheers Gary
Terry1954
And also @Paul Bradley, if you are still looking, I think L'Arsenal now do them. I recall seeing some very neat ones at Telford last year. http://www.larsenal.com/PBSCCatalog.asp Terry
