snapper_city
Hi all These will be my air entries to the GB. Two of Minicraft's 1:144 B-29's with decals from Kits world. IMG_3897 by Snapper_city, on Flickr IMG_3899 by Snapper_city, on Flickr I will be building the 'Spirit of Freeport' and 'Top of the Mark' with black undersides. IMG_3900 by Snapper_city, on Flickr I'm tempted to get another B-29 and do 'Command decision' also which shot down five Mig-15's during her time in Korea. There is some great reading a few paragraphs down HERE about 'Top of the Mark' and 'Command Decision'. Mozzy19
Nice choices. I don't think we'll be seeing too many of these. Sean
snapper_city
My first choice was an Academy 1:72 offering but I couldn't locate one. Still these will be simple and I get to build two..
Dazzio
Oo I will be watching these ones. Have always wondered if the Minicraft B-29's where any good. Guess I will find out. Look forward to seeing these progress. Kind Regards Dazz
snapper_city
The only issues I have seen so far is the lack of radome for the underside, lack of exhaust mouldings and all the turrets have two barrels... I guess they never looked at the upper front.
Dazzio
Not too many or obvious errors then! Still, I'm looking forward to watching these two progress. Kind Regards Dazz
snapper_city
Well I made a small start. All that I have done is clean up the fuselage & wings. The wings are glued together and all held with tape to see what they will look like. IMG_3926 by Snapper_city, on Flickr
Shermaniac
Is it me or are they not quite the same size??? - is the white 'enola gay' just a smidge smaller - or is it me? Despite what it says on the boxes!
snapper_city
As far as I can see they are the same size. They are exact copies of the same mould. IMG_3951 by Snapper_city, on Flickr

Despite what it says on the boxes! I see what you mean. The picture Mark just posted makes it look like the white one is smaller. But that's probably just the lighting and camera angle.Keep up the good work though Sean
snapper_city
I got a couple of hours this morning on these. All of the engine cowls & internals have been cleaned up. IMG_3957 by Snapper_city, on Flickr The gun turrets are in a sorry state.. IMG_3952 by Snapper_city, on Flickr All of the holes have been filled in and while the green stuff has been going off I have cut all the .50 cal barrels out of a strip of wire. These have since had all the nasty ends filed off. IMG_3958 by Snapper_city, on Flickr Right, off to Easter dinner round the parents... snapper_city
Well half of the turrets have been done. Starting to go a bit wonky eye'd due to the tiny nature of these parts so having a break on the forum. The front upper turret replacement is going to look the business. snapper_city
Thanks for all the positive comments guys. The turrets are done. IMG_3980 by Snapper_city, on Flickr Going along the lines of what you need and add half again these are going to need quite a lot of nose weight. So much so I'm going to have to make a run to the fishing shop tomorrow morning as I have run out. IMG_3981 by Snapper_city, on Flickr IMG_3982 by Snapper_city, on Flickr To get some sort of idea how she will look I added all the turrets. They all spin freely at the moment which is nice.. IMG_3983 by Snapper_city, on Flickr IMG_3984 by Snapper_city, on Flickr IMG_3985 by Snapper_city, on Flickr Tomorrow should see these closed up.

snapper_city
Hi guys Not a lot has happened today due lack of time. The only bits worth mentioning are the fishing weights that have been glued into the nose. Two of the wings have had their seems sanded down and given a coat of primer to check for imperfections. A little bit more sanding required around the engines and a small sink hole to fill on the top of one of them but otherwise all good. Once the epoxy has gone off I will spray the inside black and get her ready to close up.. Dazzio
Looking good! I am still not sure if I want to get the kit, but on the other hand I really wanna use some Kit-world decals on them. Loving the turrets too! Very cool. Looking forward to seeing some more. Kind Regards Dazz
snapper_city
That's the great thing. Kit world do decals in most scales for a subject. All the wings have been attended to now and the inside of the fuselage has been sprayed black. Joining will commence tomorrow morning.

snapper_city
Both are now closed up. Starting to sand one down is really highlighting the need for me to invest in a scribing tool. These raised panel lines are not liking it... Can anyone point me in the direction of a decent scribing tool please.. Procopius
I use the Tamiya scribing tool, although I'm not the best scriber. The key is to use dymo tape or whatever to make a channel for the blade to travel down. At first you have to push gently with the edge of the blade, and then when you've made a groove, you can pull back and excavate it, so to speak, with the hooked end.
