Vanja #66
Ha, I'm busy enough without cartoons, although I enjoyed Chuck's Pfening a lot... The irony with the photos is that I'm forced to take them with my phone once again, the camera is having some troubles again, think I'll pay a visit to the service we sent it and show them how good they are... To wrap it up for today, my progress was slightly slowed with a certain tennis match lasting about 60% longer than it should have, but at least it ended as I wanted it to... What I forgot to put before is a great picture of a stripped engine, this will prove quite useful later... After the aforementioned match, I didn't feel like rescribing, so I finished making what little of starboard wheel bay will be visible... This bottom will only be visible through a small opening in the wheel doors, so I didn't go crazy with it, just stacked a few plastic pieces to make it look about right. The sprue pieces you can see around it are there as support for the wing surfaces, unlike Bf-110 I didn't want to make those completely from scratch... Same on the other side. Looks like a child decided to make a sculpture, right? After that, I finished detailing of the well, not much can be seen once I closed it... Just a few things to make it a little busier, though everything is where it should be. Firewall is also there, the side visible from the bay, at least... Sanded the flap as well... A bit of paint showed that some places need a bit more attention, but nothing serious... And some paint on the well pieces... Dry fitting showed that this little structural grid was visible and looked good, but I can't take any photos until I put the wings together. The colour should be RLM02, but I got my mix too brown now. First coat - matters not... Thanks for watching, Cheers! rwoolven76
Watching you work is like watching an artist paint my friend. Absolutely gripping. As I've said before, your ability to model shapes and allow the eye to see what it should is second to none I've seen on this site. If when you've finished you ever get bored of looking at your work, I'll look after it for you on my model shelf. ;-)
georgeusa
Amazing. You have an eye like a sculptor in that you see what needs to go from the lump of clay to give you what you want from it. That is a unique talent. Waiting for the next installment.
Vanja #66
Thank you, gentlemen, really appreciate it. Can't imagine what you'll think about the cockpit, or the gun bay underneath it, those require a lot more work than their counterparts on Bf-110... Vanja #66
A bit of progress... Wheel well painted and weathered. Hasn't turned out great, I messed up a bit, noticed too late to change anything, since I closed it with firewall so I'll have to live with it. Here's how it looks separated... At least air tanks and rivets can be seen clear enough. Here's how much (or how little) the bottom can be seen... Enough to have made it worth while, since I'd really hate seeing a big black blob in the back of it... It's not worth posting 5 pictures, but all of the bottom can be seen, though it's a very sharp view angle. And who knows how much of it will be blocked by the leg itself... That abomination gave me some trouble yesterday, once I started puling panel lines around the main spar. Even though it has all solidified enough to be properly sanded, it came to back life once I went over it with my razor to pull the line. So this morning I've put a couple of drops of CA in newly formed cavities. Once it dried I started sanding it, but it got detached... I knew what that meant so I swiftly pulled a couple of strips of tape to mask the problem area and went all over it with filler... It will remain like that till tomorrow. I should be able to finish rescribing the starboard wing and put it together this evening. Thanks for watching, Cheers! Duncan B
Well you've been really busy since I last looked in (work has been a bit hectic so I've not had time lately). It doesn't look like you'll need the donor wings anyway. The photos of the Cosford 410 remind me why that is my all time favourite aero museum and the 410 is one of my favourites in there. Anyway keep up the good work and I'll be trying to finish off my 410 when I get home next week. I'm struggling to get the painting the way I want it. Vanja #66
Progress was a bit slow today... Abomination had been taken care of, permanently... It never really stood any chance, to be honest. After a bit of sanding... After that nothing was in my way to finish scribing various covers before putting those 3 pieces together... Here are some shots next to printed drawings, though it doesn't look that good on the pictures, because of the curves on the bottom of the wing. Thanks for watching...

Vanja #66
Yeah, it's a shame it had to be put on hold, but I got some other stuff at the moment. It will have to wait a bit until some Catia models and my Bachelor Thesis are done, among many other faculty assignments...
Duncan B
It just be something about Me 410's that make them slow burners, mine has been on the go for a year! I look at it every day but don't seem to be able to get it moving ahead even though I estimate there are only 3-4 days work left in the thing. rwoolven76
Well sometimes life just gets in the way of the important stuff. ;-) Good luck with the thesis. Hope all that is going well for you. Now you two are making me think about cracking open one of my own 410s just to prove that they can actually be finished. Maybe I should do the matchbox one from the seventies. I was planning a Lavochkin La-7 next or a NMF mustang, but now I'm not sure anymore. Oh the decisions we have to make! ;-)
Nigel Heath
Vanja, my apologies for only just catching up on your current build. I was a bit wrapped up with my Flying Banana when you started but I have no excuses now. Great work as ever, I liked your signature oil spatters (yes your builds have a signature look - did you know?). I hope you can resume soon. Like Duncan, I do like the look of the 410 (we agree on quite a lot actually). I used to have a Matchbox 410 in my stash but sold it a year or so ago and replaced it with the Finemoulds one which Duncan is working on. I saw it when I paid him a visit the other week, he was not quite happy with the paint job but it looked great to me. He picked up a colour profile book for it at the Scottish National show which seemed to make him very happy. I am looking forward to seeing your airbrush work on this one. The scheme you are going for looks very attractive but quite a challenge for your first airbrushed model!Good luck with it and your studies. Cheers, Nigel
Duncan B
I had another look at my 410 today and I am still unsure what to do about the mottling, whether to leave it as is or to have another go. This one really has me stumped! Hopefully Vanja won't have any second thoughts about his colour scheme. Duncan B

Vanja #66
Thanks, Nigel, if all goes well I should be able to carry on in about a month... Duncan, go for black (if it's not too late)...
