beefy66
That level of detail is mind boggling you clearly have to much time on your hands and far to much skill level Beefy

foxy
Cheers guy's.Moved on with some of the smaller etch items.First the Binnacle, this is Dafi's etch one with some smaller add ons. After spraying primer I painted by hand then folded with a metal rule, this brass is very good but needs some pressure when folding. After painting and glazing.Shows next to the Heller kit part.Next its the skylight above the Captains quarters.Primer and paint then folded, not to much trouble here, used a wood rod to fold the top. Then glazed and added plastic strip to the bottom inside, also filled the gap in the poop deck, later this deck will be planked.Foxy
dafi
Wonderful work!!! Congratulation :-) It might be, that the Heller opening is too small, just bring it to the size of the skylight. A nice detail still could be the deck beams running through the opening. XXXDAn

foxy
Thanks very much Daniel and Evo and Martin. That's some very usefull info Daniel, will do.Well also made up the wheel and some figures in the making for it.Then it was time to fit the upper deck before adding more outside the hull(could get damaged). So once fitted and weighed down added the quarter deck, having to go forward before going backward at this stage.Confusing is'nt it!!!.On trying to fit quarter deck I found that I had to remove 2mm from each side a third the way up.Also to make shure the forecastle fitted to.Still to go higher but the width is right. Then at the same time the poop was test fitted.Added some fittings to see all was right. Now its back to the upper deck !!!!. foxy
Right its back to another part of this ship. The deadeyes and chains.Using Dafis etch chains and Heller deadeyes for this one, but also have Scale Warship chain parts for this scale.Back to Dafis etch. The main/fore and mizzen deadeyes are the most you have to watch, lucky theres arrows and names to help you Identify the correct parts. Also the very instructive and helpful download with hints about how to go about this.So for the deadeyes I removed from fret, held in a push pointer then added a little amount of CA around, pressed onto etch part.It all depends on weather you use the entry canopy or not, as I am, there are chains for this too.Next its the upper deadeyes and chains. These are strait forward as they are all the same.So I fixed to the fret for later.Best to leave the chains on the fret until you need them. 'Don't want to get to confused'.Back to the hull, removed the poop and quarter deck, and found some faults here to sort. Will also add plastic strip to the hull insides, this to thicken the hull. Note rope at the stern, this is the tiller ropes from the rudder, this will go up to the wheel later.foxy
longshanks
Thats a neat solution to the deadeyes / chains, going to look excellent when rigged ! Kev

foxy
Thanks Kev and Jocko mate.Well started thickening up the sides of the hull on the upper deck, this with plastic strips and then with wood strips, this then will bring the hull to the correct thickness, also will allow eyelets to grip sides for the guns.On fitting the deck I loosened some planks, will be no problem to fix.I also test fit the masts each time to make sure all stands correct. Here is the mizzen mast with boom resting, all ok so far, note rope for seizing to the mast later.foxy

foxy
Thanks very much Martin. Most appreciated.Well been busy again to day and finished both sides with the plastic strip.Once set will add the wood planking to the sides. At this time also tested the bowsprit for height. It stood on its own without support.Even though I put some weight in case.Next it was the Anchors, these have a primer on to set, then black will be applied.there are six for this ship. These are resin from Dafis and will take over the role from Hellers four.Foxy

foxy
Cheers Callum and Dan.Same to you Callum mate, hope all's well with you.An update on the Anchors/Knights head, plus the pinrails.Fitted brass belaying pins as I intend to use them. When I checked the Brace & Sheet Bits I found they were oversize. So removed and with evergreen plastic replaced them, but kept the original posts. Some of the paints I am using for this build, all water colour.Cheers foxy

foxy
Hi Martin, by working I mean they can be tied up to, where as the plastic one's you would not be able to get a grip of them.Well been busy with the Anchors and now all done.Working on the 40 12 Pdr cannon, 24 long and the rest short 12 Pdrs.Done most of the work on them and just the trunnion caps to fit, have to shape first, this from Dafis etched parts.Made up a jig.Finished the wood on one side of the inside hull.Next its the hanging knees. Also made up quite a few boxes and added King George motive.More soon.Foxy

Ray S
Mr Foxy sir, I had been checking on this ship for quite a long time, right up until you had the problems posting the pictures. I was overjoyed a couple of days ago when I found you had resolved that, and were back in business here. It has taken some reading to catch up, but oh boy was it worth while! You are doing a stunning job on this ship, and giving us a masterclass in how to do it. Thanks for getting back to us, and sorry I was late in rejoining the party! All the best, Ray
foxy
Thanks Dan, Dave and Ray matey's. Believe me this feed back helps me to know its of Interest to this build. Some think its bonkers. And sometimes I think so too. But its the research that fuels this to continue. Foxy
