foxy
Hi while waiting to complete my 180 build I have started this one. The box art. Interior details would take up to much room to show, but will give details as I go along. First some of the etch I will be useing. For the cannon. Gun Trunnion covers. Flint triggers. Started on the trucks and cannon. 30-32 Pdrs, 30-24 Pdrs, 20-12 Pdrs long and 20-12 Pdr short. I will be adding lots of etch and scratch parts to these guns. More later. foxy
Thanks guys. Hmmm, well its a big project and theres lots of etching and resin involved, plus scratchbuilding many parts. For the rear windows. Bottom are the rigols that go over the gun hatchs. Lots of lovely bits for the ship. These for the gun hatchs. Theres lots more too. Found these On a German site, and made by a guy named Dafi(Daniel Fischer), these and resin products plus more Information now for the 1/100 Heller are the main reason I am taking on this build. Pleasure to of course . More to follow. Cheers foxy
justin1980
Holy brown stuff! Thats an epic amount of etch, I would be cross eyed by the second fret!
foxy
Yep Justin its a gold mine of etch for this Iconic ship. More progress with the 32 Pdrs. First added the King George Motives and painted the trucks. Did these three days ago. Started on the trunnion latchs with a template to fold them, the latch was layed over and a thin pair of plyers used to form shape. Trucks painted. Eyelets installed, there are nine eyelets in all for cannon and truck a piece. Then after studding pictures of the real and Dafis plates on the guns, I started making the flint fireing covers. The covers were made from 1/76 exhaust pipes(of which I have many left overs)cut in half and glued to a thin piece of plastic. In all will make 28 for the 32 Pdrs on lower deck. More later. Martian
Those cannon are little masterpieces in their own right. Martin
brianthemodeller
Like Martin said, the cannon are little works of art. Having followed your last build I can't wait to see where you take this one... Edited April 6, 2014 by brianthemodeller
Forlornhope
Holy cow Foxy, looks like alot of parts, this will keep you busy for a while. Great start on the cannon mate. I'll be following this for sure. Have fun Cheers Callum
foxy
Thanks folks, well theres alot to be going on with here. Your right on the cannon, I never thought you could get so much detail on such a small thing, and theres 104 of them, but only doing 100. Well been busy again with the covers on the 32 and brass flintlocks on the 24 Pdrs. Next it was the trunnion caps, I used these tools to hold and fix with CA, if anyone is contemplating having a go, then watch out, there are two sizes of caps to hold cannon down. At the top you can see the plastic boxs to hold small parts, very usefull. Nearly there with these, just touching up with paint. They still need block and tackle later. foxy
Had a change today by starting the stern. First I cut off the three feathers, the victory sign and the windows. Then it was placing name, windows and started on the crown. Still to finsh crown then a primer before the ship colours. Cheer foxy

foxy
Cheers Callum mate. Moved on to the main hull, with the bower anchor support in the wrong place. So removed, top of picture and making two replacements. Next it was removeing the steps for the resin one's. Some cleaning up then fitting later. As the hull is to thin around the gun hatchs, I have added 2mm strip thickness along the lower and mid decks. Hope to be detailing the decks as I go. I will add real planking to this later. More soon. Cheers foxy

Ray S
Hello Foxy, cracking job so far! Interesting way of making the crown, from a crane! I love the quality of some of these Heller sailing ships, done a few in my time, but not to your standards. Look forward to seeing this progress. All the best, Ray
