stevehed
Hi, I have a Formaplane vac form FE2b in the stash. It is one of Joe Chubbocks and appears to be quite highly regarded. Recently, on MM and ATF, there has been posted an excellent kit bash of the FE2b in which the wings of the Airfix DH4 were used. These wings have a wider chord then the Formaplane. The sheet instructions have drawings that seem to measure up to be 1/72 and these are the same chord as the DH4 and not the vac form wings. So did JC get it wrong or did some Fee's sport narrower chord wings. Regards, Steve
John Aero
All FE.2b's shared the same the same chord as the BE.2 series, RE.8 and the DH.4 at 5' 6". Joe used what commercial drawings were around which would be the Harleyford or the Aeromodeller ones. The Aeromodeller plans do have the right chord as do the Harleyford ones. It could be that the mould material has suffered shrinkage and certainly the Vac plastic does giving a reduced chord. John
stevehed
Thanks John. Very useful. I've just checked the Formaplane again and the difference I can live with. Just curious. Regards, Steve
