SleeperService
IF Orion does get made I'm sure Revell will be able to deal with the marking (and any other) issues. In my experience German firms generally have very good legal teams. Personally I would love a couple so live in hope....
marty_hopkirk
It's interesting to note Disneys Nautilus is doing well. Disney will strike a hard bargain an may not even want to license so will need lots of interest. Marty...
Caerbannog
Yes - but the good thing is: Revell is already in contact with Disney because of the Star Wars stuff so I hope this will help :-) Rene
marty_hopkirk
Weren't those licenses set prior to the Disney aquisition? Marty...
Caerbannog
Well for most of their Star Wars kits this will be the case but I suppose that they will have to discuss each new Star Wars related model with the licence holder. But this is just guesswork. Rene
marty_hopkirk
Disney drive a hard bargain from what I understand and have been very circumspect in licensing Natulius. Marty...

marty_hopkirk
Yup definitely looks like some 2001 fans are doing some heavy promotion! Possibly, but my view is 2001 has more international appeal than the likes of the Andersons series. Marty...
Kallisti
You'd be surprised - the Japanese are huge Anderson series fans, they really go for it much more than here. But it really doesn't surprise me that 2001 is doing better, it is iconic!

But it really doesn't surprise me that 2001 is doing better, it is iconic! It's still a niche within a niche and Japan is a relatively small nation - rightly or wrongly (wrongly in my opinion) Andersons work is not artistically regarded across piece - unlike Kubrick. Kallisti
Fair point, Kubrick's work is more famous and regarded. I'll be very happy with decent affordable kits of Discovery, pod space station and Aries
GrahamS
Wasn't the Eagle voted something like number two or three of the most famous spaceships of all time in some, probably, spurious survey? Can't remember what was number one though. Graham

marty_hopkirk
Probably Millennium Falcon There are number of polls out there, if you mean this one it is indeed the MF, with Discovery a respectable 5th. Couldn't find the Eagle but that is probably down to me being lazy and not trawling through the entire poll. http://www.ugo.com/movies/100-best-movie-spaceships?page=10 Marty... It's not included as I think that one is for movie spaceships only. I think the one I was probably thinking of is this one: http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/14629/top-75-spaceships-in-movies-and-tv-part-6 Not sure how authoritative though. bigh827
I have a friend at Starship Modeler who does work for Revell Germany and I'm sorry but he has said that this is only a test. When they are done working out the bugs Revell will shut down the page and not keep any of the votes. It sucks but they only did this as a program test for a online voting system. There are some kits there I would love to see.
Kallisti
That makes sense as this version of their voting system is much too easy to game as can be seen by the insane speed some things got to the top of the voting simply by cheating.

The 1/72 Lunar Module and Carrier had already been suggested http://ideas.revell.de/ideas/item/1729/ as well as a 1/48 Sky 1 interceptor http://ideas.revell.de/ideas/item/1725/ and a 1/72 Skydiver http://ideas.revell.de/ideas/item/1726/
marty_hopkirk
I was aware of both, but was (strongly) of the opinion that Sky 1 on It's own was not particularly attractive and nor the Lunar Module carrier as separates and both would be a far more attractive proposition as full kits (particularly Skydiver as one complete kit in 48). Both Kits with both mother and drone as one so to speak would benefit from being complete. Marty... Edited May 13, 2014 by marty_hopkirk

No worries, the rate of voting suggests the 'complete' kits may run out more popular - but highly likely to be considered, but it's worth a try! Marty...
