I was just relieved at the end. I am only just starting to take it all in now. And I am happy but shes still not totally finished yet. ;)

Great stuff Rob. Model making as a spectator sport? or maybe Model making meets 'Countdown'? I wish I was going to Cosford - if only to see her!

Well that is a compliment and yea modelling to a deadline is a good game lol. A lot of my builds are getting like that, first the snow models of the MIG25 and Vulcan for Precision Ice and Snow at Telford. Then my dads spit now this. Its becoming a sport. Honeybee says I have 21 Days to turn out another V bomber for milton keynes... ;)

That looks amazing! Well done. Hope you have a good day. I look forward to seeing more photos later.

I will show you some now but need to do some more photos for RFI.

Gents any chance we can set up a camp bed for Rob behind the stall where the vulcans on show, just in case all these hours catch up with him ?

Then when he's snoring away wheel him round the front put a sign up saying "completely knackered modeller 1:1 scale, scratch built etc" !

Well done mate, I hope you and the Vulcan get the recognition you deserve, your Grandads got a lot to answer for...

Cheers Pat

Many thanks Jockney In the end it was me saying to myself my Grandad would love this to be on display at Cosford were we used to go that got me through. it was so hard towards the end decaling. I was falling asleep a few time and really fighting to keep going its been hard and I reduced my activity and spend at the show dramatically. Still only 1 hour sleep but about to have a rest now and catch up. I am so tired I can't talk properly. Been mixing my words up all day. but Every second of suffering was worth it. I love how shes turned out. She might have put up a fight but were best friends now. , Ironically the real XM597 was a bit of a pig, the seal went on the window on a black buck mission and I think its IFR probe fell off once so I heard. But Mr Reeves its Pilot is a very cool and funny man. He tells a good story. Cheers mate ;)

Congrats on the Vulcan.

So much dedication;-) I am really impressed by the way you have built it and that you will spend the hole night to get her finished!

She was worth it mate. But Martin Hale was right she finished me.. :)

...... and that is what makes this hobby so fascinating, there is always that little bit extra that you can add and improve on (skills permitting). You will have learnt a lot from this build Rob, and whilst you may feel that you never want to see another Vulcan for the foreseeable future I am sure that will soon pass. Looking forward to the next chapter of 'The Vulcan Saga'.

:goodjob:

Aye and she still needs a few underside stencils, then the windows remasked, the wheels need revisiting at some point, and she needs the little details adding after I have decided on the final finish, The radar dome matting out, but none of this is that important. She looks like a Vulcan and I am happy with her as is. The extras will be done soon though and maybe a slight weather. I also need to find the right diameter narrow tube to finish off my 301 engines.

Manyana to all that..

Cheers :)

Total respect to you Rob. I didn't think you would make it but she looks great.

Martin

Cheers for your support and urging my not to wreck it. You were right though she finished me.... She really did I am good for nowt now... Cheers Rob :)

so which aircraft are you under?

I was under the Valiant sorry I got this late the signal for me was rubbish. ;)

Well done Rob :clap2:

Just listen out for the snoring :sleep_1:

Thanks very much Mike, Oh hell yea snoring is coming..and it will be louder than the Vulcan howl., the robvulcan snore.. :)

Where are the fireworks? I really feel this one deserves some fireworks in celebration. All I could find was this bouncy 'wow' on a spring - it will have to do:

:wow:

Great job Rob! Thanks so much much for bringing us along.

Thanks very much mate. That bouncy wow will do me. Its got more energy than I have and looks cheerful enough from were I am standing (slouching)

The sound of fireworks right now might make me angry lol. The sound of a bottle of beer being opened however would be perfect.

Cheers :)

Well he came

We saw

He conquered

Rob mate well done

As you know, I loved them both

have a  from an old modelling geezer

top man

It was great to meet and talk to you,. Sorry I was a bumbling mess. I really was not feeling up to being there but would not miss it for the world.

Despite extreme fatigue it was worth it. It really was.

Well guys what a day. Thanks for all your support and making it fun. I doubt I would:whip: have done it without the friendly Britmodeller whip :whip:

I took plenty of photos of her as instructed by RNoAF Aerobatic Team.

Its funny. 10 years ago I was looking on google at the bomber command table and thinking ,.. "wow look at them they are cool..." And who would think that now 10 years on my Vulcan would land on them same tables. I think that is awsome... I would never have guessed it.

The Bomber Command crew are very friendly. It was my first time displaying with them and getting to talk to them more.

This was only my 4th show and I am getting hooked. The kits the tools the stuff its all good but mostly its the people that matter its great to meet them and I met quite a few of you. I am sorry if I seem a little lost, bewildered, or plain out of it wierd. I was so tired I could not talk properly, Still am. Normally a bit brighter than that ... "a bit ,, lol"

I only spend £11 at little cars. I love their stuff I picked up some perfect putty, I could have done with that on this build, some microgloss , microsol, and with talking and walking and being there from 11 rather than 8 o'clock it soon came to an end. I wish Cosford was a 2 day show with a night camp and a marquee restaurant and pub were we could all congregate and talk all things Kit.. and other.

I slid off the shelf and Airfix Vulcan and laughed and slid it back on. LOL.

I was great to meet everyone always nice to put a face to a name. It just takes me a few goes to remember the name.

I am very greatfull to all the help and materials I have had from people on this build books decals and all. Its been very fun and were still not quite at the end.

Anyhow Here she is at Cosford. I think its cool that this Vulcans first day of life was to be on display at RAF Cosford under the 3 V Bombers in the cold war hanger and next to Honeybee's lovely 2 Vulcans too.

Right here she is, the Vulcan I made in 3 weeks after looking one week of the month to sickness in bed :

Hi Paul mate it was great to meet you and the other fellas too. Your a great gang and easy to get on with. You have actually inspired me to be honest and I am not promising to a deadline this time. But believe it or not I would like to make another Vulcan for Bomber command this time a B1. I have the B1 kit in the stash and found it this week. That tail cone, those leading edges, the little tail pipes and the lovely metal castings for the landing gear are begging to be used.

So it looks like Nimrod54 and you were right. I will do another Vulcan. But this time a better fitting kit that this one I am never buying this boxing again.

Next time I am in Hobby craft I will pick one up. I am also inspired as I have just bought and tried (on the generals reccomendation) Perfect plastic putty. .. WOW its amazing.. If I had that this week It would have helped me loads on this build. But this is how we learn,.

It was a fun and amazing experience. It was really fun to be able to display my V with your Vs Nice response from the public too.

Cheers mate,. Rob ;)

well done all round - the table looked great - I wish I could have seen it in person - I too are now up against the clock on my RAF K2 L1011 build which needs to be ready for 9.30am on the 13th for the REME Museum show next Sunday. I was following your post over the weekend from my tablet in my mancave workshop but had my hands full all weekend. Those were a superb pair of Vulcans you talked us through over the last weeks - I really enjoyed monitoring your work and picked up quite a few hints and tips from your own workbench in the process. I sent my wife out on Saturday for some of those cushioned nail files you cut up for fiddly bits - they work really well thanks!

Hi Mate it was brilliant to meet you again also. I love the photo I can't wait to see the others you took and the HI-Res ones too.

Thanks it was a great day out even though I was a zombie that day. Totally worth it.

;)

Wish I was there. Today's my birthday...whatta place to be.

Vulcans and Valiants and Victors! OH MY!

A very happy birthday too you mate. It would be good to see you there. Hopefully this Vulcan will be at other shows Definitely Telford and possibly Milton Keynes.

See you at one of the shows sometime.

Well its nice to know people want to see her. I am surprised to be honest. But its cool. She will hopefully attend other shows and she will be finished for then.

So see you soon Cheers Rob ;)

Its a great show kev shame you can't make it. I think it should be a 2 day show with a cam site and food tents we can all congregate and talk about modeling stuff then do it all a second day.

Glad you like her cheers ;)

Good luck with your build and be sure to post a linky to your build please. I would love to watch it.

I am glad you enjoyed the build and there will be another very soon. ... Another Vulcan I even shock myself with my stupidity... Woke up this morning and got the bug..

Yes the nail pads were great but a bit rough for final finish, Make sure you get the Little Cars micro mesh pack as these are padded too and the different grades are needed to polish your aggressive sanding back. Little Cars are amazing. I love their stuff.

Cheers all Rob.

I will update the bits I have not with this build later as towards the end I just worked on it. I will also resume with the final finishing off of this Vulcan. And soon I shall embark on a B1 Vulcan. I woke up this morning with a urge to make another after Honeybee kept asking me to do one for Milton Keynes. Not sure I will make it for that but I will build another. Cheers Rob ;)

A K2 cool !, you don’t see them very often. Good luck with the Day-glow orange black orange markings on the bottom !.

Enjoy your build I hope yours fits better than this one. I think this one was sent to me as punishment for telling people the fit on airfix vulcans is not as bad as some make out, Which is true if you don’t have this boxing.... Karma eh . Cheers ;)

Thanks David mate. cheers ;)

Rob, I'm trying to PM you but it won't send?

Hi Radleigh mate try now I just deleted some messages.

must be full I guess ;)

Great job mate. And what could be a better setting than beneath the V bombers. It was a pleasure to see them. You did your Grandad proud.

Tom

Indeed so ironic that all my life I went to Cosford often with my Grandad and originally in search of the Last B1 only to find they had scrapped it in 1985, ;(,

Many time me and my Grandad stood looking at the Vulcan and Victor when they were out side.

It was my first show at Cosford last year with an impromptu display of my little Vulcans including a model of the Cosford B1 XA900 then that started a new chapter in my life going to model shows. This year was my 4th show but my first time displaying a model for and as part of a SIG its amazing that it so happened to be at Cosford and under the V Bombers and also the first day of existence for this model.

But also ironic that when I was at college 10 years ago or around that time I seen photos of the bomber sig online and thought wow I would love to make models like that. Only at the end of the show I realized that I was now part of it. Life is a funny journey sometimes and a small world.

I did not know what a sig was back then. They were just nice photos of nicely made bombers I liked.

Cheers Rob ;)

So what is the next epic build with a nail biting finish going to be? :frantic:

Hi mate well you would never guess it but yesterday when I woke up from the mad antics this one give me I decided I would do another Vulcan.,,,, yes that's right I am completely pure mad mental I know. But after Honeybee and the gang were asking me to bring this Vulcan to Milton Keynes and kept asking me all day to build another. I decided that with that I would build a Vulcan B1 !

I had found the flight path kit the week before cosford I have the resin and the metal wheels so why not I don't have the kit yet but I can start on the intakes as I have the ones left over for the B2 here.

I think this one was punishment for all the times I've said "the fit I. Airfix vulcans ain't that bad" well it's not normally this bad so I am going to pick up a new boxing which normally fits better probably tommoro but I might start the thread today.

I am not going to work to a deadline this time. But even though the B1 is entirely different to a b2 , different wings, engines, intakes, exhausts, tail fin, wheels, engine tunnels, anti icing gear. Pitot tubes on wings. I recon it will be less trouble than this one was "kiss of death there"..

I am also going to make my 48th Canberra for the Canberra table.

I need to finish this girl of first need to buy a punch set for radar panel masks. Add some stencils, re mask windows and do final finish.

Plus I need to sort the wheels as I had in a rush temporary glued them with glue n glaze which actually was a nice surprise as it holds well sets clear but is a little like a jelly when dry and therefore adds a little cushioning but if I careful should I need to I can remove them without damaging the airframe.

I do have a small vulcan project with a difference that I might do today. She's a 1:72 scale vulcan but smaller that a 1/72 spitfire ! See if you can figure that one out ;)

Cheer Rob :)
