Graham77
Hi all, not sure if this is the correct place, but where would I source better tracks for this Airfix kit. I have managed to join one half by melting together but was too heavy handed on the other. There is enough track left for one more go so may be able to salvage it tonight but otherwise is there a cheap solution. At the mo am only building it to experiment with airbrush and weathering..... Although am really enjoying building armour as opposed to wingie and road going things, so have my eyes open for one larger scale project once I get the hang of it Cheers Graham
IanC
Hi Graham Maybe you could email Hornby/Airfix and see if they can send you a spare set? If you fancy something cheap and cheerful to practise your paint skills on, these are quite good: http://www.armourfast.com/ If you spruce them up with a bit of stowage they don't look half bad. Graham77
Cheers for the link Ian, they look ideal for practicing on... I am going to wait til I've done the three I currently have and a handful of spitfires aswell and see how it's all going. Fingers crossed tonight I'll be able to join the two ends otherwise it will be Airfix for replacement
Test Graham
There are a few kits around that provide both "simple" tracks and more complex link-and-length: I think that the Italeri Sherman, although 1/72, is one of these and the spare parts can be adapted. Possibly the new Heller Sherman too, although I'd have to check on that. You can buy some high quality replacement tracks but they are expensive. Graham77
Thanks for the quick help chaps, with some patience I was able to salvage it and get it on the Sherman for my purposes, hopefully once painted I am going to have a go at making it good and muddy so it should cover the dodgy track joins Cheers Graham
