Gary West
I'm ticking along with my Canadian CF-104D from the 1970s transition period from NMF to Green. Airframes had quite a high polished appearance - I'd love to know your suggestions based on your own experiences of any suitable paints/liquids that will get me a high polished almost Chrome look. At the stage the build is, I'm beyond Foil, so no need to throw that one in. Thanks
bentwaters81tfw
Plasti-Kote chrome silver. Rattle can in Homebase. Warning, it will fingermark badly, wear cotton or similar gloves, Will lift if masked, spray it last. Klear seals it, but dulls the finish slightly

Gary West
Plasti-Kote chrome silver. One of my considerations. I already use it for Nose rings on Lightnings - nice examples btw Edited March 2, 2014 by Gary West
Phantom726
For a high-shine appereance I'd go for Alclad Polished Aluminum over a gloss black cote. Did it once on a P-51 but had to re-do it with another color as it was simply too high-shine! Bjarne
Kuro Nezumi
Mr Metal Color aluminium can be polished to a very high shine, plus it can be both brushed and airbrushed. But it needs a REALLY smooth surface such as bare plastic and it can't be touched once finished with - you'll get powder all over your fingers. Gary West
I am now the proud owner of one very shiny CF-104D. Finally opted for Chrome Alclad over Gloss Black but good to hear alternative ideas.
