Matchbox Westland Wessex HU.5 1/72

Recommended Posts

My second group build is a Matchbox Westland Wessex HU.5 1/72.

Got it a couple of years ago off eBay. Couldn't remember exactly what I paid but it was definitely under a tenner.

Had a look on KingKit and it is for sale for £9.99, so that's good enough for me.

So far I've painted the interior and some black bits.

Painting with Xtracolor enamel paint.

It takes ages to cure. Put the second coat on last night and it's still tacky almost 24 hours later.

Anyone know if this helicopter has a Matt or Gloss finish in real life?

Semi-gloss would be best,Fleet Wessexes had a lot of washing and cleaning

to keep the salt off 'em so soon lost their glossy shine.

Something with this kit that makes it look much better is to lengthen the undercart's oleo legs.

These are the parts than run from just below the cockpit.Lengthening by (IIRC)about 3mm

lifts the front end of the aircraft up just enough.

Cheers for the advice. How would I go about doing that?
