Bristolhibby
My second group build is a Matchbox Westland Wessex HU.5 1/72. Got it a couple of years ago off eBay. Couldn't remember exactly what I paid but it was definitely under a tenner. Had a look on KingKit and it is for sale for £9.99, so that's good enough for me. So far I've painted the interior and some black bits.
Martian
Good choice! This is probably my favourite 1/72 helicopter kit. Martin

Bristolhibby
Bit of work done on the cockpit. And stuck the two halves together. A bit of a pig to stick together, so much tape required. Edited March 5, 2014 by Bristolhibby

Bristolhibby
Got the tail boom and nose on now. It's beginning to take its familiar shape.

Bristolhibby
Out of Tamiya tape so this project has stalled. As I can't do any masking. This has also affected my Sukhoi 27 (can't mask the cans off). Got some ordered though. Hurry up! J

Bristolhibby
Painting with Xtracolor enamel paint. It takes ages to cure. Put the second coat on last night and it's still tacky almost 24 hours later. Anyone know if this helicopter has a Matt or Gloss finish in real life? Miggers
Semi-gloss would be best,Fleet Wessexes had a lot of washing and cleaning to keep the salt off 'em so soon lost their glossy shine. Something with this kit that makes it look much better is to lengthen the undercart's oleo legs. These are the parts than run from just below the cockpit.Lengthening by (IIRC)about 3mm lifts the front end of the aircraft up just enough. Speedman
Seconded! I have a soft spot for the Wessex as I'm a stone's throw from the old RAF Mount Batten and fondly remember them buzzing around Plymouth
Bristolhibby
Finally finished. The kit decals were crap, even with Microscale liquid decal film they cracked to pieces. So I cobbled together some spares & Modeldecal 99. It's not 100% accurate, but it does for me. Cheers J
