Tamiya HIACE Quick Delivery built by MotorSports Team Set

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

As this is my first Build of a model for at least 20 years or so, I will ask for your patience as I am pretty new to building, prepping and painting. I'm a little crazy so forgive me if some of my W.I.P photos are as well.

I plan to work on Tamiya HIACE Quick Delivery but customize it into a Food truck. I haven't thought very far on how I am going to pull this of so your guess is as good as mine. I already had a few basic tools so I just picked up a few more just to get started and I am currently waiting for my Air brush to arrive so no painting will be done anytime soon. I will also be trying to use two Air pumps (yes Aquarium) to feed the airbrush since I'm a little short on funds for a compressor and if that does not work, then maybe an C02 tank if I can find a reasonable one.

I will post my finding as well as photos if the Air pumps work. Till then.......

I like your whole idea, the mock up on the cutting matt already looks lively. I'll be following this build too!

Before I got my first compressor, I used to use the inner tube from a tyre. Keep an eye on the sale and trade part of the forum as well. You could pick up a bargain as people upgrade!

Welcome to Britmodeller Gobs.

Looks like fun!

Those figures do look a little large though - are they the same scale as the HiAce?

Weill noticed. The HiACE is 1/24 while the figures are 1/20. I think there is only one 1/24 scale mechanic team and unfortunately they don't have it yet here. Buying it online will not work as the postal and custom service here is the pits (no pun intended) but I may get lucky so it's part of my shopping list of kits to buy.

Cracking idea, I hope those blokes don't go on strike before you finsh the build... For an oddball van kit which must be 30 years old it has stood up well. Imagine if they had expanded the range to include the Citroen and Ford Transit etc.

Like it. Good fun.

I have an Arii Japanese food delivery van in 1/32nd to build.

I bought it mainly because of the box art!

I scratchbuilt a 1/24th GMC Stepvan about 13 years ago.

It's a support van for an modified Airfix Mustang Reno racer.

For figures, I found:

Tamiya TA24266 Rally Mechanics set is at Hannants for 16.75

There is also a Tamiya? students set? which can still be found.

Cheers

Ah - that would explain it! Doesn't get in the way of it being a great idea and build. Watching with interest to see how it develops - will you be going for a full-on Japanese livery?

Thanks. Actually I was thinking of a converting it into a food or coffee truck

Thanks Pete. I would love to see the Arii Japanese food delivery van build as well as your scratchbuilt 1/24th GMC Stepvan. As of now I have not manage to find a Rally Mechanics set in my neck of the woods but I'll keep at it.

This is brilliant!

Thanks! : )

I wondered where this had gone.

Nice work so far.

Drop me an email address and I

will send pics of my stepvan.

Yeah, I had to set it aside for a bit and was almost tempted to start a new kit OOB build but then when I studied the new kit, I started to have mod ideas. LOL! so I decided to push on with this one. Thanks! Sure! That would be great!

My crew is on leave so I have to continue some work without them...

I cut the back doors in two but I didn't do such a good job.

And the knife skipped! : ( but it will be mended. No fingers or toes were lost or injured

I have to create an inset for the door and door jam just like the opposite side

That's all for now. It's actually more interesting when the crew is around. I'll get them back on the job. Till then, thanks for viewing. Any comments are welcome and respected. : )
