If it was nearer, I might give it a look. You get a few bargains at these bashes.

I remember going to a show (don't remember where) and they had a Product enterprise 'studio prop' Thunderbird 3 in its silo for £125!!!!!

Like a BURK I looked, and left it...

A few weeks later, I saw another one in the BBC shop in Norwich reduced to £75!

I passed on that one too!!!!!!

I've been kicking myself ever since. (Sob!)

Roy.

So what did people think of the show this year ???

Paul

It was my first visit to this show and I enjoyed it a lot. It was good to meet Danny John-Jules, Chris Barrie, Robert Llewellyn and Ben Miller, the Q & A sessions were very entertaining with the Red Dwarf crew, and the Dr. Who session with Paul McGann, Lalla Ward and the wonderful John Leeson.

I'm not an autograph hunter, although I do collect signed books, but there were lots of opportunities for those who are. Just hearing Shane Rimmer's voice took me back in time about forty-odd years. People had taken Thunderbirds DVD box-sets to be signed and I wish I'd thought of that.

Staff at the Space Centre were very helpful and good-humoured during a crowded weekend that followed a very busy half-term for them. The venue itself is excellent, but it struggles a bit with large numbers of visitors, especially with the car-parking which was starting to become challenging half an hour before the doors opened.

Better signage might have helped in places; I overheard several people asking what the queue they were standing in was for, and I wasted a good 15 minutes by being in the wrong one. The only other drawback was that the timing of some of the sessions clashed, and I couldn't be in two places at once, but that's going to happen at any multi-stage event.

A lot of people had taken the effort to dress up in costume and were obviously having a great time, giving some good opportunities for people-watching. The expressions on the childrens' faces when they came face-to-face with a Dalek or K9 were priceless.

For Britmodellers, the props and models would be a major attraction, and there was enough to keep everyone happy.

Would I go again? Yes, I'd probably be tempted, and if they provided bacon rolls it could even start to rival SmallSpace.

Cheers,

Paul

If they did Bacon Rolls, you'd probably be in the queue for the ticket so long that it'd be cold !

I did find the queueing a little strange. People queuing to get into the venue, then to buy tickets, then queue again for each event. I think this needs tweeking a little!

When I wandered through the door just after 8 on Sunday morning there were a couple of staff and a couple of exhibiters in there, 2 hours later it was totally packed! Coming back from Anderson Alley I gave up getting in through the entrance and went through the exit doors!

A great event, layout a little strange, I think they were trying to get people into Anderson Alley, so they put the traders in there rather than the main hall.

I had a chat to most of the people exhibiters I'd gone up there to talk to and have hopefully got a nice set piece exhibit for smallspace, but have to check the halls floor loadings!

I'll post a few photos when I've got them sorted out. I've got one of K-9 and a Dalek (I'm glad I got Mat to take him for a walk now), and loads of the in costume shots.

I didn't get any autographs & only bought a couple of key rings! But did have a quick word with John Leeson before they let the autograph hunters in!

Your description sounds exactly like why I don't go to these things anymore - too many people and too much queuing for every little thing. Its what makes Smallspace so enjoyable, none of that crap and wonderful bacon rolls as well!

There is the Cosford Flights of Fantasy in May which is a big Gerry Anderson exhibition that isn't controlled by Fanderson (always a good thing!) nor is it Andercon (perfect name IMO - £45 per day, you have GOT to be joking!)

I would have liked to have got up to the Cosford expo myself, but it's the same weekend we are putting on the automodellismo show!

Oh well only four and a bit months until smallspace & I'm already worrying about how we will get everyone in to the place. We are looking at a large tent outside as well this year to add to the floorspace.

We are hoping to get a Dr Who item that hasn't been seen for many years!
