jetboy
Hello, its me again, sorry but ive boo booed on my pics,so they are not in order up until today,so from now on,it should be the right pics, with the right build?. So whats this one then,well..This is the Hab module that I've built for the crane and lander version but have now changed it to build it as the science module phase one surface version. It's going to be a surface version as later ones will be under ground. I'm including solar panel array and fuel tank area and cooling plant area as separate things, and doing a surface airlock and walkway/corridor for access, so heres the partly built module,as a starting point..its the white one on the left, using it without the lander. so im going to build some extras to go on the module as this is fixed and surfaced,so need some struts to hold some array,s i hav,nt decided on all the details yet,but im starting here,at the back, and work out how im going to mount the solar panels.. might mount the panels and cooling arrays like this?or might not??? need to work out what i want here, either an airlock........or some access area for utilities and put the airlock elsewhere? decisions decisions... ive decided to use a modified at at foot, which i also used for the crane,so did the changes and martin,at martins models cast me a huge supply...its on the right there, being painted with martins solar panels,as well.. which will look something like this... still trying to figure out where the solar panels are going??/ thats the airlock on,but ive changed my mind again,im going to use that as a utility entrance..cables pipes etc.and fit a entrance airlock elsewhere?? might put some dishes here??? making some brackets up for the dishes... thanks for looking... don
jetboy
hi,cheers pete.. so if this is going to be the utility acess area,it,s going to need a way in and out,... so it needs a airlock type thing,so going to use a srb section, and one of martins resin bits as a door? so something like this, which should look ok here? now the trouble with putting the airlock there,is ive got to put some type of ladderway/gantry for astronaut access.. so making a walkway thing first,to go around the base, where the steelwork will be? raise it up off the floor a little. something like this? slap some paint on.. slap some mesh on. position some ladders,, so time to make some room on my spare bench its getting hard to move? cheers .. don

hendie
some great imagination going on - if you could produce these as kits, I think you'd be on to a winner
jetboy
cheers col,not very good i know but it keeps me happy, and the brain ticking over, thanks again.. right did a little bit more..with the solar panel arrays,... ok going to use these mmodels, lander feet,as the revolving machine at the base of the solar panel arrays.. and due to the finished weight of one panel,i might use brass rod as the mast..? so got one of martins double wheels, and going to use it as the pivot point for the mast,so ground the detail off,and put a groove with a file down the middle,so the shaft can sit in. so should look about right when fleshed out? so working out how big it needs to be? also finished the landing at the front. im going to use martins models resin parts off the s.i.d satellite,im going to use these as cooling panels so the heat can dissapate, but unsure where to put them yet,?if i stick them on the hab roof,it will look like micky mouse from the front? so a bit unsure yet got some probs with the pewter, thanks for looking.. don
jetboy
so hi,a few probs sorted there,...back to it..thanks for the comment hendie, much appreciated...right back to it.. right airlock hatch, painted and placed .. the overall look is getting a bit busy now? so making some support arms up out of scrap sprue.. working out panel posistions making holes everywhere? sticking supports on for the panels.. sticking arms and hydraulics on still trying to work out how to fit the panels, made a holding block out of a old foam sanding block, dont throw old ones away ...very useful? fixwed some radiator panels in the middle, first, martins resin ones starting to place the s.i.d. sized solar panels, off martins models, far better than the revell ones i was going to use? bit of extra supports put in making up some hydraulic support brackets for the panel tilt mech? one done.. might put the cooling panels on a seperate tower?i,ll see what it looks like before i decide? need to put something round the back, might place some sort of storage tanks area here, dont know yet? thanks for looking, need to work out where im going ,and how much bigger its going to be?lol and thanks for the comments, its nice to know someone looks.. don
roymattblack
How big is all this going to be? Are you moonlighting from Gerry Anderson's place????? Looks great. Now.... A bit of careful lighting with a bright single light source, low down, in the dark, and then slooowly pan round it all with a video camera - add a touch of Captain Scarlet eerie music - away you go. John_W
Sorry, but the storage tanks remind me of Ferrero Rocher for some reason
