Spitfire XIVe Fujimi+Armycast 1/72 MV260

Recommended Posts

Good evening,

Long term project that I just brought to an end. Fujimi's XIV with Armycast resin Engine and cockpit. One hell of a frustrating build that has turned out ok (although the consensus seems to be that it's better than ok )

Spitfire XIVe EB-P/MV260

Flt Lt Peter Cowell

41 Sqn

B118 Celle, Germany, April 1945

This is the last Spitfire I'll be making for a while and CERTAINLY the last ETO XIV, having just built three in a row!

Thanks for looking!

Ben

Turned out ok?,are you having a larf Benny-Boy?

That doesn't look ok,that looks superb.

A great addition to the fleet mate.

A couple of bods fiddling with the Griffon would set it off a real treat.

 Cheers Miggers!

It's to go on a diorama, just need to paint up my revell ground crew!

Nnnnnoooooooooooooo! You should do a highback XIV next.

By the way, I really admire how clean the delineation of your camo is; I could never hope to do that by hand. Excellent work all 'round.

I'll do a highback conversion from the Airfix IX and XIX when I've taken a break from Spitfires ;) I have a stash full of 72nd planes desperate to be built!

It's pretty simple, I collect as many pictures of the subject airframe and (with the aid of the painting instructions & colour profiles) I mark out the camo pattern using the panel lines for guidance. I feel it gives me very good accuracy and I like the hard edge camo. I stick by hand painting because I find I don't have the time or money for an airbrush/rattle cans.

Cheers!

Fantastically detailed! Well done!

How does the Armycast cockpit fit?

The tub doesnt fit in well, it required a huge amount of sanding both the tub and the wing to get it in. The sidewalls were the right shape and fitted well with a little thinning.

Certainly looks great to me, the effort was more than worth it! :thumbsup2:

Don't quit making Spitfires though, you can NEVER have too many of those beautiful birds in a collection!!

Val

Definitely will make more Spitfire's. I have a Mk IX (to be converted to X/XI) and Mk I here!

Very nice indeed. Where did you source the bods btw?

There are two metal figures from Dart Castings, a couple from Revell's raf set and three from Preisers USAAF figures (modified slightly to be RAF)
