`Sundowners` Hellcat

Recommended Posts

Calling this done now so first things first, a picture of the man himself crouched on the wing of his Hellcat. You will note that during the Hornet cruise of 1944, the Sundowner emblem was not present on squadron Hellcats, but were added once they got back to the US in early 1945. The picture also gives you a pretty good idea of how he got his `Skull` nickname.

very nice finish and awesome weathering.. its hard to see it on the photos, but on the first photo of the model you can see it greatly on the cowling, that looks realy realy nice!

how did you achieved that ?

Simply a dark wash pretty much left as is without rubbing it off. Looks great as long as you don`t overdo it.

Very, very nice build and I like the fact that so many modelling masters here go for historically interesting pilots and their aircraft, such as you have.

I've got a thing about the Canadian ace Lt. Colonel Raymond Collishaw at the moment. Still reading up on his career.

But thanks again, this is the stuff I love.
