1/700 HMS Queen Elizabeth (Trumpeter)

Recommended Posts

Photoetch set by White Ensign Models.

This is the oldest of my kits that needed finishing and ironically the last to be completed; this is because of some awkward sections that I'd been putting off. I'd yet to venture into the world of after-market wooden decks so there isn't one here. The kit is indicated as being representative of the 1918 configuration.

The Queen Elizabeth battleships are one of my favourite class; I like the look of them and they accumulated a fair amount of history during their service.

Looking at the photos there are a few spots where paint has come off during transport but never mind, I'll fix that tonight! Feels refreshing to have cleared my backlog of unfinished kits (a few brushstrokes aside!).

Thanks for looking.

Ross.

Thanks Kev.

Good shout re. the rigging. When I retouch the missing paint I might try mixing some light-ish brown in with the black and see where that gets me. I often mix washes in a similar way to avoid the 'cartoon' look that pure black can sometimes give.

Cheers, Ross.

Ha seeing this reminded me I have a Warspite build on the go, forgot about that. QE looks awesome though, the finish looks lovely. My first assumption on the rigging was you had used the etched parts for it? Your etched work is very well done and the wash has bought out the details nicely

Well done Ross

Cheers Callum

Thanks Callum. You're right about the rigging, it's comes as part of the mast pieces included in the WEM upgrade set, which is very handy because I don't have the tools and knowledge required to replace the original masts.

Speaking of the WEM set I just realised that I forgot to put the provided oar bundles in the boats!

Cheers, Ross.

Lovely job, she looks brilliant, particularly like the features highlighted which really brings the model to life.

A lighter coat on the rigging will probably lighten it down and look just fine.
