UNITS 07

JG 53 "Ace of Spades"

Marek J. Murawski

The book presents the history and combat operations of JG 53 "Ace of Spades" - one of the Luftwaffe's most famous fighter wings. A collection of forty archive photographs is supplemented by a list of all JG 53 commanders, details of each of the wing's squadrons and flights, and a listing of the unit's equipment used during the war. Full-page, colour aircraft profiles will serve as an excellent source of documentation and a welcome addition to a set of decals included with the book. The decal sheet was printed by Cartograf. It contains 1:72, 1:48 and 1:32 individual markings of the following planes:

- Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-1; 'White 12' of 2./JG 53, Rennes airfield, France, August 1940,

- Messerschmitt Bf 109 F-2; W.Nr. 5434, 'Black 3', flown by Fw. Josef Wurmheller of 5./JG 53, Korowje-Selo airfield, Russia, mid-July 1941,

- Messerschmitt Bf 109 F-4/B; W.Nr. 7473, 'White 3', flown by Uffz. Felix Sauer of 10.(Jabo)/JG 53, San Pietro airfield, Sicily, March 1942,

- Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-4 trop; W.Nr. 15013, 'Black 16', flown by Lt. Ulrich Seiffert of 8./JG 53, Sciacca airfield, Sicily, late April 1943.

PHOTOSNIPER No. 9

Challenger 1 Main Battle Tank

Robert Griffin

The Challenger 1 Main Battle Tank was Great Britains second purpose-designed Main Battle Tank and served as the spear point of the Royal Armoured Corps for nearly 20 years. The Challenger 1 proved to be an excellent combat vehicle in Operation Granby after a controversial early career in the British Army, and it continues to serve the Jordanian army to the present day. Robert Griffin tells the story of the Challenger 1s development and service, in this first volume of a two part study for the Kagero Photosniper series.

A4 size, about 80 pages, 280 photos, scale drawings.

SUPER DRAWINGS IN 3D No. 26

Japanese Heavy Cruiser Takao 1937-1946

Janusz Skulski, Waldemar Góralski

The design of four-member Japanese Takao-class heavy cruisers built between 19271928 was based on earlier Myōkō-class heavy cruisers. The Takao-class was better armoured and equipped including the main artillery being modified to engage air targets. The Takao-class had a distinctive look thanks to the massive superstructure and the first chimney being inclined towards the second one which was set vertically. Only the lead ship of her class, i.e. Takao survived the war and was scrapped in 1946.

The latest volume of the Super Drawings in 3D series harvests many years of Janusz Skulski's work who is considered the world's best Imperial Japanese Navy expert. Takao renders by Waldemar Góralski include the majority of adjustments made by Janusz Skulski and depict Takao in the camouflage pattern form the last days of the World War II.

A4 size, 92 pages, 21 archive photos, 100 colour 3D renders, 80 drawings.
