Ravens
Photoetch set by Eduard; wooden deck by Artwox. I'm fortunate to be able to post this, because while making a late correction last night the model slipped from my fingers and crashed to the floor. Luckily it landed on its side and the breakages were kept to a minimum - whew! The paint scheme might lack historical accuracy since I generally don't do splinter camouflage as it breaks up the lines of the ship; I did want to include the striking AR deck markings as they really make the model stand out on the shelf. Thanks for looking; any comments or questions most appreciated. Regards, Ross.
prowler0000
WOW, that's really nice!!!!! & lucky, too! those recognition stripes must have been a pain..
Ravens
Cheers Prowler. The AR markings took a bit of time as I gave the fore-deck a coat of white first of all, and then did the red stripes one at a time with masking tape.

JackG
Hey now, that is one beauty of a ship - had to look twice to make certain this was 1/700. I think you are historically safe doing without the splinter camou. There are photos showing it was commissioned in the simpler scheme, and they do seem to show a fairly weathered hull. regards, Jack

Mike DeTorrice
A superb job on this beautiful Italian battleship ! Too bad the original ship had such a short career and a tragic yet dramatic end. Mike
Ravens
Thanks for all the kind words everyone. At some stage I'll have to have a go at rigging - a daunting task in 1/700 and I barely know what to do; perhaps best to start out in a larger scale first? Ross.
