diases
Hi peeps Well, just getting back into modelling after quite a few years off. What interested me was the famo/trailer combo(1/35, Tamiya), and a plan was formed for a diorama. Main weather would be snowy/cold, but not certain what front. I believe the famo was limited to approx. 28t load, so a panzer 4 should fit in with my plan. Now, as I've been out of the game a while, kits seem to have moved on in leaps and bounds, and was wondering what people think about the Tamiya famo, and which add ons for the famo are worth the money (although money isn't the main concern) The main advice needed though is about the panzer. Was wondering what people rate as the best one available, and upgrades as well. It's going to be a long build, so I'd like to get the best starting point. cheers for any input in advance, or other ideas that people have. Mike
Hi Paul, and aboard if I've not said it already (poor memory). From what I understand, the Dragon Famo edges it over the Trumpeter one for my money. I think the Tamiya kit is getting on a bit now, although it might have had a mid-life upgrade of some sort (again - I forget)
Shar2
Having seen a mates Tamiya FAMO I think it still builds into a great looking model, with the added trailer it will be quite something. I think a Panzer 4 would look good on the trailer,
Matt182
Not sure on the Famo but for the Panzer IV you definitely want to get a Dragon kit. They are by far the best on the market. Which one you get will depend on what period of the war you wish to depict. Take a look at this review http://modelarmour.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=978:dragon-pzkpfwiv-ausfh-wzimmerit&catid=37:kits&Itemid=60 It gives a good idea of what to expect from the newer Dragon panzer IVs. For the most part you won't need upgrades unless you really want to go nuts on it. Cheers Matt
andym
If you are wanting a Sd.Kfz. 9 with trailer then Tamiya is your only choice. The Dragon kit is a Sd.Kfz. 7. As for Panzer IV go with one of the Dragon ones. HTHAndy
diases
Thanks for the replies. Got a Dragon bergepanzer that I'm starting to assemble. The kit looks quite good from what I've seen so far, I'll try to post a few pics as I'm building it. Still planning the Famo build, as I could Imagine that both would be it the same area behind the front lines. Cheers for the advice Paul
