Forma Plane Hawker Henley T.T.III

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I have been going through the stash looking for inspiration for this GB, and like most of us fancied doing something a little different, which is after all why many of us are prompted to join these GB's in the first place.

Having rediscovered the Henley still in the jiffy envelope I bought it in, it ticked all the boxes. As you can see the parts have been roughly removed from the backing sheet, so lots of prep to be done, sanding to the wee small hours etc.

This is my first Vacform kit, despite having quite a few I have never previously been brave enough to build one. So all help and support through this build will be gratefully received.

And with any luck it should come out looking similar to this

Good luck Pat; I have complete faith in you and your skills, you will be put forward in the Queen's honours for the O.V.E (order of the Vacform Empire)!

Hi Dave

You are making me very nervous that you can remember it from 30 years ago, I'm not picking up a lot of positive vibes !

Hee hee - only because it was the second vac I ever built (age 16), and I found what remains of it at my parents recently! Points I recall - the canopy fit needed a little work at the back end, it didn't fair into the fuselage like the real thing, also the wing root needed a little work to make it fair in properly. Other than that it was fairly straightforward.

Some sources say the Henley used the same tailplane and outer wings as the Hurricane - in the case of the wings that may be true, but all the drawings show a bigger tailplane on the Henley - but do we trust the drawings? Photos suggest it was bigger too.

Apologies for the lack of progress with the Henley.

This is down to 2 reasons;

First a lack of bottle to start it and;

Second getting sidetracked with this;

Dylan's one is a safer bet for completion, at the moment, but I promise to return to the Henley at the earliest opportunity.

Cheers Pat
