Interesting! Which leads me to thinking about doing something about my ancient 1/64th Comet/Kleeware/Aurora one I built when at school and decided to refurbish a couple years ago... still not finished!!

New kits

We have learned that the masters will be delivered in October for new models of these aircraft:

1:72 Cessna 310A/B

1:48 Cessna 310A/B

They will all be in the Rug Rat Resins series and all can be pre-ordered from Hannants.

More news will follow as development continues.

The resin masters for the Cessna 310 (...) are scheduled to arrive here on 5th October. The decals for the Cessna are designed and will include the USAF U-2 chase plane “Me Too” and a Rhodesian civil colour scheme.

19th September 2016

Delivery of the masters for the Cessna 310 kits (1:72 & 1:48 scales) is expected to be the 4th or 5th of October.

These are the decals we intend to put in the kit (this may be subject to change)

310_DECALS-2.jpg

We are asked at times how the decals are chosen - in the case of this kit it is possible to model a 310 A or B.
The USAF U-3A designation covered both these models - the only external difference that we know of is the
step at the rear of the wing. All other changes were internal. The 310A had a single fixed step, but the 310B had a retractable double step.
The three U-3A decal cover both versions and the U-2 chase plane “Me-2” is the suggestion of a friend.
The Rhodesian aircraft is a personal choice having flown in it.

(...) If we do, it would come with decals for Rhodesia United Air Carriers - the Baron 58 I flew in!

Not impossible, but will need to see what sales of the 310 are like first.

The 310 kits should be with Hannants before Christmas.(...)

Very good news for us civil fans.......Thanks for giving us the choice of scales. A Baron 55 or 58 would be most welcomed along with any other private aircraft!

More civil types are badly needed, and I have nothing agianst the Beech Baron, but a better choice would be a Twin Bonanza or an Aero Commander, as both can be done as either civil or military types and therefore would be better sellers.

I often choose models of aircraft I have worked on or flown in - so Baron has a better chance than Twin Bonanza or Aero Commander, but there are a lot of bigger models to do as well. The problem with big models is the cost of tooling. Luckily CAD design costs me nothing, but CNC machining does.

If you were to decide to produce the Baron would it be in 48th and 72nd also ?   While we are on the topic of civil or private planes.......... will we see more vintage types from the 50's and 60's ? I have a very large " wish List "   :D

The 310 will be our first 1:48 kit, being followed by the CASA 212 in that scale.

Dependent on sales, if they prove popular, others will follow - the DHA-3 Drover is on the list, but other than those I have mentioned, I tend not to say other subjects to avoid disappointing people if they do not happen.

I have now finalised prices and they are on the Hannants web site.

One of the decal sheets had an error in printing and I am just waiting for the replacements - current expectations are that they will be available from Hannants at the start of January 2017.
