Alan P
Very nice work, looks like a really clean build. Does anyone do a kit of Halibut in her more interesting later years? It's probably quite an easy conversion to do! Al
John_W
Nice build. Similar to the USS Greyback. Your builds have educated me about some interesting submarines
sinnerboy
USS Halibut!... you've just got love some of the names the US gives it's ships ( & boats), I mean that must really strike fear into the baddies...."quick run away, the Halibut is coming" there again, if it was good enough for Jehovah lovely build btw & superb weathering & no offence meant.
Basosz
I was just about to say what sinnerboy just did "Halibut" is a lousy name for a submarine that's supposed to be all menacing It's still a very odd but cool boat and a lovely model !! The ludicrous years of sub-building never cease to amaze me
Flankerman
Prior to the Los Angeles class of nuclear attack boats and the nuclear SSBN's - all US subs were named after sea creatures - so there were quite a few silly-sounding names..... Here's a few.... Aspro, Bang, Blenny, Cobbler, Cod, Flounder, Hake, Herring, Lapon, Muskallunge, Paddle, Pogy, Shad, Spot, Trout & Wahoo. All the names of US Navy submarines. Flankerman
Speaking of US Submarine names..... and just a bit of fun.... The Los Angeles Class of SSN's are all named after US Cities - except for SSN-709 'Hyman G. Rickover'. Of the 61 others ..... which is the odd one out ??? Here's a list to help you out........ Here's a list to help you out........ Ken Struggling with this one! I'd say Miami simply because it was the only one to be "sunk" by a civilian! Al I'd forgotten about this......... The answer is USS City of Corpus Christi - SSN 705 It is named after the South Texas city of Corpus Christi - which means 'Body of Christ' The US Navy were going to just call it USS Corpus Christi - but you can't have a nuclear-powered weapon of war killing machine named 'Body of Christ' .......... So, after some objections, the name was changed to CITY of Corpus Christi. Ken
