Paolo6691
Hi all Probably most of you know about Ugo Crisponi work, he does some very nice profiles, I browse his site and his flickr acount from time to time to get the inspiration for some modeling. During my latest perusing of his very nice work, I spotted an Italian Tornado from Operation Locusta (Italian contribution to the Gulf War) with a marking on its buddy buddy pod. http://www.aviationgraphic.com/fighters/1349-tornado-ids-36-46-156gruppo-am-jp-1459.html The marking is of the biggest Italian petrol company AGIP, in a similar way of Victors with BP mission markings, I did look for pictures online but I didn't find any. I wonder if any of you came across pictures of Buddy buddy pods marked with the AGIP six legged dog, I would love to see them. Cheers Paolo
AntPhillips
Hi Paolo, I'm sorry can't help with photographic evidence, but I do hope it's genuine, and I'm sure there are good sources for the AGIP markings in the F1 modelling world. Thanks for posting. Ant
Jabba
I have seen photos of S-3s with Shell, Mobile and Esso markings on their re-fuelling buddy pods, but none of the Italian Tornados. Have you tried looking at the Web Site dstorm.eu which has many photos of Gulf War aircraft.
Paolo6691
Hi Jabba That is why I am asking, I never saw one myself. I did check dstorm.eu a couple of pics have buddy-buddy pods but they are plain. Cheers Paolo

Linus
Hi Paolo, it is possible, Tomorrow morning I check my references, don't worry the buddy buddy pod is easy to work (apply decals) also finished model. You can use decals car rally 1/43. Moreover I ask at my friend pilot of Tornado (he was a instructor at Cottesmore). Keep smile Linus
Paolo6691
Hi Linus As I said I would like to see a pic of it, just to know it is real and how it looked in real life. Thanks for your suggestion of using car rally decals, but I will consider doing it only if I find a pic Cheers Paolo

scotthldr
May I ask where you got your references? As my references state that only 8 Tornadoes actually deployed on Op Locusta, would be good to update if I'm wrong.
Linus
Dear scotthldr, 8 tornadoes were the first who were then joined by 2. others have come and gone over the course of the conflict. You can see "Gulf Air War Debrief" world power ait journal, where 12 tornadoes Italian. Of course, this whole affair has been dealt with reserve by the air force . In turn, there are a few photos I have a picture on the book "After the storm ten years after the Gulf War," where you see MM7055 with buddybuddy pod flying over the desert but without the written AGIP. The planes that took part in the Gulf War, they retained the coloration desert for some years. it may be that the pod in question was painted when the tornadoes came back to Italy. I reserve to give confirmation just in my specialist friend (who was in Al Dhafra as a specialist on tornadoes) can you tell me something more. Sorry for my mistake English, but I hope you can understand. Ciao ciao Linus
