Col.
Although the initial Czech double boxing is sitting in the stash this is also tempting. Be interesting to see what other schemes are included with this one.
AngstROM
Yet again, the Silly Names office of NATO surpassed themselves on the way to 'Fishbat', 'Frogspawn', 'Flubber' et al. I don't even know what a 'Fagot' (with one 'g') is... Other schemes here: http://www.eduard.com/store/Eduard/Plastic-kits/Profipack/Aircraft/1-72/MiG-15bis-1-72.html?cur=1 Edited January 6, 2014 by AngstROM
KRK4m
Yet again, the Silly Names office of NATO surpassed themselves on the way to 'Fishbat', 'Frogspawn', 'Flubber' et al. I don't even know what a 'Fagot' (with one 'g') is... AFAIK it's just the American English variant of British "faggot" (with two 'g's). The difference is just like Yankee "color" and British "colour". Edited January 7, 2014 by KRK4m
Procopius
AFAIK it's just the American English variant of British "faggot" (with two 'g's). Something like Yankee "color" and British "colour". Middle Englishism dating back to the 14th century referring to a bundle of sticks, actually. 1

Flankerman
The ASCC (not NATO) initially allocated the Reporting Name of 'Falcon' to the MiG-15. But that was considered to be too complimentary - so it was changed to 'Fagot' It has various meanings - but then ASCC Reporting Names don't necessarilly have to mean anything - they just have to be distinctive and comply with the naming rules (F Fighter B Bomber etc - plus one or two syllables to denote prop or jet). AngstROM
Middle Englishism dating back to the 14th century referring to a bundle of sticks, actually. I thought that was with two 'g's; "Or brought a faggot to bright-burning Troy..." (Titus Andronicus, III.i.69). Apparently, it can be correct with just one -many thanks for enlightening me, Procopius! (...still a bloody silly name though, mumble, grumble, etc.)

Mikhail Ivanovich Mikhin was born 25th of October 1923 in Bor-Forpost village. He finished his first flight training in June 1941. Later he worked as flight instructor and was transferred to 518th IAP afterwards. Pilot participated in "International Help" to Chinese and North-Korean pilots while serving in this IAP. Mikhail gathered 9 aerial victories and 3 damaged aircraft. Later pilot was awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union title and Order of Lenin. 518th IAP was famous for 4 pilots with impressive results, but only one of them - Mikhail Mikhin - became ace and received the highest award. This pilot proved that MiG-15 could rival US aircraft and shot his first Sabre on 9th of August 1952. It is important to note that all Mikhin's kills are also confirmed by US Air Forces.
