Jessica
Is it just me, or did Revell get the landing gear awfully short? That nose gear leg looks somewhat off, and it spoils the look of the model for me, which is really too bad given the superb work you've done on it. Speedman
Thanks everyone Is it just me, or did Revell get the landing gear awfully short? That nose gear leg looks somewhat off, and it spoils the look of the model for me, which is really too bad given the superb work you've done on it. It is, sadly the undercarriage is quite poor on this kit. The nose gear is a bit on the short side, but there's no easy way of rectifying it with the way Revell chose to mount it. Also, the main gear is splayed out slightly too far, correcting this would have meant cutting and correcting the angle of the legs, and in turn the hubs and door actuators. All in an assembly 2cm wide... I'm crazy, but I'm not that crazy
Whisky Papa
"... The Starfighter equipped Marineflieger 2 1963 - 1987, eight TF-104Gs were operated by them during this period. ..." Very nice work! I've tried one myself, but it definitely didn't turn out that well. Although I think the wrap around decals for the tip tanks are a good idea, I don't remember the red being that dark... (they're no' day glo'). According to my sources MFG2 operated 12 TFs: the last four came to Eggebek in October 1981, the 27+93 being among them. There were four crashes with four fatalities and four successful bail-outs. After their service in the German Navy four trainers were sold to Turkey, another four to Greece. nirvanagr
Great result! I admire your courage to build this tiny kit! Should we put our 144 starfighters together for a "family" picture? lol Edited February 16, 2014 by nirvanagr
