Airfix 2014 range Decal Choices?

Fellow Followers of Airfix,

I was just wondering if Airfix's decal choices for their 2014 range have been published anywhere? Catalogue perhaps?

If I recall correctly, I did read somewhere that the 1/48 Spitfire Vb will have 249 Squadron (Malta based) decals, however not quite sure what the others may include.

I suppose we can assume -

Hurricanes - 85 sqd (Series 1) & 615 sqd (Starter Set)

Tiger Moths - as per box art (x3)

Lancaster - 35 sqd (FE) and 57 sqd

Lightning F2A - 92 sqd (Starter set)

Any additional information would be gratefully appreciated.

Cheers .. Dave

The ones just showing the CAD files (or are they test shots?), you're not likely to know until the box art is revealed. However, I'm willing to bet on Nos 2 and 79 Squadron for the Swift!!

Although interestingly, the 1/48th Siptfire/109E set has the decal choices

Thanks guys,

I suppose the reason I've asked is that the 2013 Catalogue did mention the decal choices on their new tooled kits (although some were not as accurate as the final product).

I finally got my hands on the 2013 Catalogue in August this year and was wondering if anyone has had the chance to flick though the 2014 publication. This may answer a few of my queries?

I also notice that the 1/72 Red Arrows Hawk now has a product code of A02005B? I wonder what's going to change.

When A02005A came out, Airfix did clean up the moulding with sharper panel lines, one piece canopy and wing fences already attached.

Hopefully besides a new decal sheet, Airfix may decide to take this same course of action with the Spitfire IXc (A02065A) and Bf109G-6 (A02029A) also due out in 2014.

Dave Fleming - I'd say you could bet your house on the Swift decal choices !!

Cheers.. Dave.

Yeap the decal options should be listed in the 2014 Catalogue when its published, although the 2013 did have a few TBC clangers for some of the new tools !!!.

I think the Red Arrow Hawk will be the revised kit with the new 2014 Reds scheme, so the change of code allows for the difference to be identified for those in the know.

There's not much to choose from with the Gnat:

high speed silver and dayglo;

light aircraft grey and dayglo;

signal red/white/ light aircraft grey;

signal red/white;

Yellowjacks.

And the RAE Bedford special, not forgetting Red Arrows Red. Weren't some of the prototypes silver overall?

The 2014 Catalogue seems to be available on the Airfix website, however postage to Australia is GBP30.00 !!! - yes I want it but not at that price.

Anyone received their copy yet?

I'm keen to know what decals the C-47's / Dakota will include. From a recent Hornby / Airfix email I just received, it appears that the Dakota with Jeep may only come with one decal choice, however I cannot tell what this is. The C-47 has two (an Olive Drab one - presumably the Boxart, and what appears to be Natural Metal with Red tail version?)

Anyway - just pottering around, probably should really get some modelling done, however Mrs. Rabbit Leader has taken over my modelling table for her latest 1000 piece jigsaw??

Cheers.. Dave

I'm hoping for an abundant range of decals to come for the new Aifix Dak!! Civvy and Military. That is in addition to those available already that I know about from the likes of leading Edge, Xtradecal and so on.

The Bedford Gnat had extra probes, so I'm assuming that it won't be in the kit, while the Red Arrows will be covered by that particular boxing.

Some of the pre-production T.1s were painted overall high speed silver, some with yellow bands and some without, but these aircraft had a shorter nose that was more akin to the single seater, without the nose light.

Sorry, just thought you were listing schemes, not in- box options.

Seems like the Airfix 2014 Catalogue will be available for download on Monday 23 December according to a comment on their Bookface page - https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152116928826271&set=a.80699376270.112940.65102591270&type=1&comment_id=12517549&reply_comment_id=12517683&total_comments=2

Now being on the other side of the world, and not prepared to pay 30 quid postage for a 3.99 publication, would some kind soul out there spare the time to add a few decal choices for the announced 2014 range? I assume some of the options (although never 100% confirmed) are usually listed within this catalogue.

I'll get round to joining the club one of the days !!

Cheers.. Dave.
