Selwyn
Issued in a single box and with the Hawk in a red arrows double set for their 50th anniversary. Obviously the Success of the !/72 Gnat has rubbed off! Selwyn

RHWinter
Ooooh, wunderbar! A wish come true! Thank you, Airfix - you're getting better all the time! Richard
Driver66
Can anyone enlighten me why it's much easier to scale a kit ( like the gnat ) up than it is to scale a kit down ( no 1/72 sea vixen )for production purposes?
Julien
I am not sure it is easy to do it either way. On a visit to Airfix one of the CAD Designers said it was not just a simple re-sizing exercise as many other items had to be taken into account. JohnT
Well Airfix doing it in 2014 was an absolute dead certainty and no surprise to me at all. Wholly inevitable really after I took the plunge earlier this year and splashed cash on an Aeroclub one Anyone wanting a 1/48 Airfix Vulcan please assist me to buy an Aeroclub one at an inflated price thereby guaranteeing a repeat of the Gnat
Silver Fox
This has made my Christmas, shame the Swift isn't in 1/48th but maybe next year. I can relieve my yoof as the 72nd scale kit was one I built time and time again. Glad I sold my Aeroclub one a couple of years ago to a fellow Britmodeller 'cos I would never have built it. Wez
This news pleases me greatly, it's a good size for this diminutive aircraft. Wez
Simon Cornes
I suspect that the diminutive sizes probably helps Airfix considerably when scaling up the 1/72nd version as its still a pretty small airframe when 50% bigger so will fit moulding machines easily. Well done Airfix! Simon
AnonymousAA72
I suspect that a 1/48th scale Gnat has been in the offing for a few years now. Aviation Workshop were planning to issue one two or three years ago, before...well, before it all went pear shaped for them, and my understanding is that they were getting a "major player" to produce it for them. This would tie in with the various other projects that they were producing together. But whatever! I'll have a few in each scale please!
