alvinhy
Just a quick question from a newbie. Can I use the Tamiya acrylic thinner to thin Revell Aqua colours (acrylic paint)?
AngstROM
As a general rule, steer well clear of using 'third party' thinners. Some work, some don't -but it is usually not worth the risk unless you are prepared to experiment on something unimportant and/or you actually enjoy fixing globbed-out airbrushes! Takamota
X-20a works fine for me..... go for it
Dermo245
Revell's own website says water works fine but they also recommend one of their own products. Linky I've used Windsor & Newton Flow Improver (!) Retarder myself and that works a treat. markg
For airbrushing I use "Aqua Color Mix" and it works very well. For hand brushing water does fine.

Tomjw
Do you guys usually buy all the colours stated in the instructions? Hi Alvinhy. I usually buy the colours, but I like Tamiya or Gunze, so if it is a Revell kit, I make my way to the numerous colour conversion charts on the Web. Cheers, Tom.
Kuro Nezumi
Tamiya acrylic thinner will thin revell paint quite happily for an airbrush. For brushing, plain water works well. Recently, I found that brushing Humbrol acrylics thinned with 1 part water and 1.5 parts Gunze Leveling Thinner can give an almost airbrush-like finish. Bonhoff
I find vallejo thinners works for brush painting. Not tried it in airbrush yet though.
