Marlin
Hi, It's time to revive my stalled F-15 project "Baz n Ra'am" I got three F-15's to finish. One B, One C and one I I started this in the F-15 STGB almost a year ago, but I didn't finish it. One could say life got in the way of modelbuilding. But now I'd like to finish them. I'll do them one at a time so as not to risk burnout again. I'll start with the B-version. This is how it's looks after more than six months in hibernation. SaintsPhil
Nice to see this going again Bosse, I'm nearly there on my Baz now, which means I might have to buy the GWH kit next year.... Maybe you can help, what colour are the wheel hubs on the Baz, pictures seem to show black of dark grey...?
Marlin
Hi Phil. The GWH kit looks really interesting. I'm sure one or two will eventually find it's way into my stash as well. Too bad it doesn't includeds the CTF's As for your question, it looks likes the earlier ones, A's & B's, have white wheel hubs. The later ones, C's & D's are more grey to black in colour. I just had a quick look and I think you can paint them FS 36320 Dark Compass Grey, and drybrush them with some black. Some pictures shows the hubs in almost the same colour as the fuselage. /Bosse
SaintsPhil
Thanks Bosse, as with everything IDF there's no definitive answer I guess...at least no one can prove me wrong! Real shame about the lack of CFTs, might keep an eye out for a cheap academy Ra'am to rob them from....
Marlin
You're welcome Phil. I might go the same way. A cheap Academy shouldn't be that hard to find. /Bosse

Marlin
Hi, and Merry Christmas all. It's nice with the Holidays. Lots of time of work, and great food and drinks. And lot of free time at the desk. This morning I finished the bombload. And tonight I've done all the decals on the belly of my Baz B Tomorrow I'll continue with the decals on the top. There are quite a few of them. To be continued..... /Bosse
Marlin
Hi, A small midday update. Baz B has some more decals. And it's got it's number. Marlin
Hi. I've just watched Swedens junior team beat Russia, 3-2, in the junior world Icehockey championsship on TV. A Great game, and a great start of the familiy's New Years Party here at home. During the game I put on the last remaining decals on my Baz B This will now rest so I can check for any silvering around the decals. But I don't have to be idle because of that. Lots of other things to take care of at the worktable as I wait for the New Years Fireworks. To be continued.... /Bosse
noeyedears
that sure is a lot of decals
Marlin
Thanks, but it's not that many. This one was done with the Hasegawa box decals. So it's only around a 150 of them. /Bosse
Marlin
Hi. The New Year dinner has been enjoyed and now I'm quite satisfied. A lovely dinner with a shrimp and bleakroe (Swe: löjrom) sandwich for starters. Follow by a "minced lammeat steak" (don't know what's it's called in english), roasted potatoes, red wine sauce and a green sallad. All rinsed down with some lovely wines. Now I'm quite satisfied. The kids and wife is enjoying a film in front of the TV and I have sat myself down at the worktable again. The good thing is that my worktable is right by the livingroom tv so I don't miss out on what goes on. Since the Baz B is resting I think it's about time to retrieve the Ra'am from hibernation. When I put it away it was primed and I've started to paint the underside. So I guess I'd paint the underside one more coat as I wait for the Fireworks. To be continued..... /Bosse
Marlin
Hi. I don't feel like going out today. It's snowing and it's rather windy too. So I'll stay indoors and continue working on my builds. I've spent some time this morning with my Eagles. I've started on the camouflage on the Ra'am, sand first. Then Sky/IDF Green. Baz B also got some paint on the exhausts. To be continued..... /Bosse
Marlin
Hi. I've now finished the second coat of the camouflage. This will now rest a few days to let the paint harden fully. Then I'll do the third and final coat. To be continued..... /Bosse
jimbojones
Loving the thread, have thought about doing some IDF warbirds for some time now, this may give me the boost to do it... keep the updates comming. Jamie.
Marlin
Thanks Jamie. I was bitten by the IDF-bug a few years back. And now I build mainly IDF aircraft, with a few Egytptian and Syrian thrown in for good measure. And you don't have to worry. This thread will last well into spring. Remember that it's three F-15's And we've yet seen only two...... /Bosse
Marlin
Hi My Ra'am is now ready for some decals. I've laid down the last coat of paint during the week. Nice and shiny. I originally wanted to arm my Ra'am with either four JDAM (BLU-109) or one GBU-28 Bunker Buster. But I've only managed to find two JDAM's and no GBU-28 so I guess I'll go with the Popeye's on this Ra'am instead. No it's time for some decals... To de continued... /Bosse
Marlin
Hi, The Olympic build fiesta Day 4 has been spent together with an F-15. I'm trying to get a few more squarecentimeters of workspace by finish one of my builds, Baz B It's almost ready for the final assembly. Since I'm using Escapac ejection seat I had to build me some rails for it. I just took the rails from the Hasegawabox ACES II and modified them. All the small bits are painted and the cockpit now awaits the seats. I reckon I'll have Baz B done within two to three days. Marlin
Hi. Day 5 of my Olympic buildfeast is now at an end. During the day I've continued working on completing Baz B. I've got the landinggear and bombs in place. And just a few minutes ago after tonights icehockey game between Sweden and the Czech republic, which ended with Sweden winning 4-2. I glued the holder for the Sparrow missiles in place. The wheels are missing. I've painted them with paint from a bad tin. It will not dry! If I recall I think this happended the last time I used that tin as well. Note to myself, bin it and take a new one. To be continued..... /Bosse
SaintsPhil
Getting there now Bosse! Do you happen to know what the max load a Baz can carry with CFTS is? I've nearly finished mine with the mixed AtoA load, but I kind of fancy putting a JDAM on the centre line too.... Phil
Marlin
Thanks Phil. Max weight for a modified Baz is 36.781kg according to this site. http://www.israeli-weapons.com/weapons/aircraft/f-15/F-15.htm I know that the Ra'am can carry five JDAM's (2.000lb's) with the CFT's and still carry a full A2A load and wingtanks. /Bosse
