Kuro Nezumi
Stunning paintwork! It's about time we had some affordable late Bf 109s in this scale (going by their recent spitfire IXs). BTW, which paints did you use for the finish?

Duncan B
Looks good Libor. How does it build compared to a Finemolds 109? I wasn't sure about the way they have moulded the upper cowls but you have managed to cover the joints nicely. I did notice on another build of this kit that they have the battery box moulded into the rear cockpit bulkhead which I think only came in with the G10. Redboost
Thanks chaps! I haven't compared both kits in detail, that's something I pass with pleasure to LWF guys; but the only thing that always bothered me on FM kit, the thick rear fuselage cross section, is not present here. Not sure now about the battery box, but it is moulded separately, however the instructions are little confusing at places, so that may be the reason. madcop
Hi Libor Thanks for this beautifull model. Very nice job as usual , you're one one of my "master painter" . As for the model itself I just would say that it is very strongly inspired on the FM model but that the AZ canopy is to narrow for the fuselage ( that can be seen on your 1st and 2nd. picture ), the AZ nose is way too long and flat and that this AZ oïl cooler is far too thin. I'll keep my "original" FM model. These impressions are not based on your picture (that may appear distorted by the use of lens ) but on the kit I have and that I compared with my FM collection. Note that I won't say who is wrong and who is right ...but compared with pictures something is definitely wrong with this AZ nose. The FM model is far closer to reality IMHO. Anyway this AZ model , even if wrong , painted like yours , looks definitley like a 109G and a lot cheaper . I think that removing 2 or 2.5 mm from the nose would fix this Concorde nose.To swap the oill cooler shouldn't be a challenge either .I didn't go further into the comparison. Madcop. nimrod54
That is a great model of Heinrich Bartels machine Libor. The paintwork is fabulous and the mottling on the fuselage side has been subtly reproduced.
Redboost
Hi Madcop, thanks for your comments. You are correct about slightly narrow canopy, what was partially sorted out with thin triangle plastic strips faired over the windshield triangles, but it may well be my own mistake done during the fuselage assembly. I would also point out subtle canopy frames which looks like E or F version; the G were much heavier, especially on the windshield. Haven't noticed the oil cooler though, I believe this may lay outside my ability to recognize that, as well as the slim nose. I checked my refereces and all look fine to me, although you may see it otherwise. Can't comment on "inspiration" on the FM kit, actualy I admit some features can be hardly overlooked. That's something that the master pattern guy should answer, but I would be suprised if he actually do :-) All the best Libor

Dave N
Beautifully done 109...doesn't look like 1/72 at all. I may have to get one of these after the disappointment of the new tool Airfix offering..Would you say the nose length/shape inaccuracies on this kit are very noticable? regards, Dave
Redboost
Thanks Dave. IMHO would not, but I admit I'm not 109-insane. I noticed small differences only when compared with other built Gustav kits. Cheers Libor
