enzo how did i know you would say that!

cos I'm predictable er.. consistent.

My kit arrived today, courtesy of Mike at MJW Models. Superb service as always.

It surprised me somewhat. I didn't expect the aircraft to be quite that big. It's not quite as long as an F/A-18 but has a slightly greater wingspan. That's going to present a bit of a challenge when painting. A single colour paint scheme can look very bland. It's not too much of a problem on small models but becomes more of a problem the bigger the model. I'll have to consider how I can break up the colour. I have some ideas. :D

I want to build this for the Korean War GB, if it gets up. But I can hear it calling to me...

The top of the canopy would slide backwards to allow entry into the aircraft. There is a pic on page 45 of Naval Fighter Aircraft 4 on the Skyknight.

Wasn't there some sort of escape tunnel between the seats?

I understand to abandon the aircraft the crew could slide down and out of the cockpit as it didn't have ejection seats.

How does the crew get into the cockpit?

If you see in the photo the black line going up shows the crew steps and the way to the top to entry via the slding canopy.

Anyone finished one of these kits yet? Any fotos posted anywhere of WIP or finished models?

Take a look here: http://z15.invisionfree.com/72nd_Aircraft/index.php?showtopic=4785 for Drewe's completed work.

For the Facebook compliant the WIP photos are here https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.255707484606142.1073741865.154889281354630&type=1
