Procopius
Is there a book that depicts all the RAF Squadron badges and markings used on aircraft (IE the coloured bars often seen on either side of the roundel and so forth)?
cmatthewbacon
You can find the _badges_ here: http://www.griffon.clara.net/rafh/sqns.htm The distinctive artwork in the middle is often adapted for "special markings" schemes (eg 56 Squadron's "Firebird"). The bars around roundels sometimes come from colours from the artwork, sometimes other sources. I _think_ my ancient Harleyford book on colours and markings might have a spread of the "silver wings" era bars, but I've not seen any comprehensive tome that includes the 50s-60s versions... bestest, m.
