Thanks chaps the aerial and mirror will be added last. I will only knock it off if I do it now. Just rolling sausages of blue tak. I found a way to speed this up,

Get a fresh pack. Cut the sheet of tak into lines roll the lines against a flat surface under the cardboard pack. Then they come out even and don't hurt your fingers.

Just to save you some time calculating, the yellow tips to the props are 3 millimetres in 1/32 scale.

You can finish it Rob!

Cheers Mate thats grand.. Any tips for masking them. I was going to use tamiya but Incase there is and easier way ? :bounce:

I usually spray the prop tips white, then yellow, then cut a 6 mm stip of tape and fold it over the tip. then spray the prop black.

Thanks for the support guys I am still going. I have to pop out to go get the mrs Christmas Card (I cant believe i missed that...)

It is with great thanks I must mention Pip Moss a fellow Britmodeller who kindly helped me make this project possible by supplying me with these Custom decals he made for this particular spit which has unusual numbers I could not find accurate decals for. Similar yes but not the right type.

He also put me in touch with Mal from Miracle Masks to make the SNM codes again which are not available in decals. I am very grateful to both these helpful gents and if you need anything yourselves in this regard contact them I am sure they can help.

The first decal has just gone on and are performing wonderfully with Klear and Microsol. Cheers Pip ;)

The decals are setting need to mask over them so seemed a good opportunity to get the Christmas card go collect post and pick up the felt for the plinth / diorama ...... Yes last minute or what.

So it's miracle mask time. I will be glad to get back currently I am in sainsbury's and there is suddenly alot of screaming !! Another good reason to stay at home and make spitfires

Hi Rob...

This is one of the most detailed builds ever. I will, no doubt, be looking at it when I begin on my Spit (just need to clean up the garage first)

One question, though. I don't know if it's my computer, but some of your pictures are looking very weird. Like only part of them have been uploaded. Any chance of seeing what I've been missing?

Merry Christmas

Hi Rob, looking good, just don't get masking tape anywhere near the serial number decals (don't ask), Mal's masks work great I use them on all my builds a bit fiddley but follow the instructions, they are idiot proof, even I can use them.

Cheers

Cheers Mate I had a little cock up with the decals however I think I have rescued it. The miracle mask has to lay over these so I hope it work.... Scared now...

Looking really good Rob , that paint job is spot on mate . Watch out for the Red crow bar grim reaper.

Thanks mate glad you like it. I think it makes a difference when you try to copy the camo pattern on a particular airframe rather that the generic pattern. Each has its own personality that way.

I will look out but what exactly is the "red crow bar or the grim reaper" Is this a special modelling reaper...

Cheers Rob I wonder if anyone has opened a book for this one lol

Hey Rob

The "red crow bar or the grim reaper" refers to the fact that during the war the crow bars on Spits were painted either aluminium or cockpit green and NEVER red which is a post war colour addition.

Looking good mate

Yours aye

Cheers guys and thanks for the info on the crowbar.

Well the battle goes on I have masked the no walk lines on the wing. Added the miracle masks and painted them revell aqua sky and WOW......THEY ARE AMAZING........... never used them before I was scared but they worked much better than I thought and have a totally different feel than the decal route.

Here is the progress as of right now.

Cheers Rob ;)
