MADMUSKY
Evening Folks Bought this Airfix Lightning F1 second hand half built from evilbay, stripped and rebuilt it destroying some panel lines down both sides of the body with thin superglue so rescibed them. First time use of Alclad, sprayed with two coats of humbrol gloss black sanded smooth between then whole body sprayed in polished Aluminium, a few panels in Airframe Aluminium and belly tank in Dull Aluminium was too shiney for me so gave it a matt coat. Decalled in RAF Leuchars TFF I like the overall finish from Alclad but it is a lot of work to get right. thanks for looking Darren Edited November 20, 2013 by MADMUSKY
Natter
You know, that is rather nice. The result was worth the effort.
Duncan B
Oh yes XM135, very nice. You've done a great job of the old Airfix kit. This one is on my "to do" list and I've got a Trumpeter F1a that I could use but would prefer Airfix to come to my rescue with a new tool early Lightning. Spad
Very nice - I feel you've caught the "atmosphere" of the Lightning's NMF rather well there! 1/48th scale, right? cheers Rick

NeilF92
You've made a good job of that one . I was on Leuchars TFF when we had 135, 145 and 139 - happy memories .

John_W
I lived in Leuchars as a sprog in the 70's. You knew it when the Lightnings flew over. My Mum was always complaining how the washing smelt of AVTUR.
Paul J
I like the nose markings. Nice to see one of the 'lesser' units depicted so well. Good job.

MADMUSKY
very nice indeed! how well did the humbrol work, im thinking of using it instead of the alclad gloss black too? The Humbrol Gloss black worked great, thinned it down but not too much and gave two light coats, sanding smooth between.
