Thanks guys, once again! I was delighted with it, and I'm really nice to hear from you all as well. Nearly finished the mustang as well, hopefully within the next couple of weeks!

Thanks chaps, it's really kind of you to comment. The white wash is a pretty easy technique which can hide a multitude of sins!! I'd recommend anyone to go for it with confidence

!

Tempts me to pick up the same kit!

Patrick, if you kind find this kit significantly cheaper than the Eduard version, I'd definitely recommend it. What it lacks in finesse and detail, it more than makes up for with excellent decals, simplicity to build (except the undercarriage is a bit fiddly) and generally excellent fit. Only needed filler in a couple of places and Suspect that was my own doing rather than the kits - the wing roots are absolutely perfect. Ideal mofo finder and weathering experimental model!

That is a beautiful build the white and I was looks so good. I have the Airfix club kit from last year (Red Star) and I think one of the three kits is a white wash on I might dig it out and have a go you have inspired me.

Yes I have the same set of kits, you should definitely have a go with the white wash, the hairspray technique is dead easy! Have fun :)

Thanks all, once again, I'm pleasantly surprised to see this thread still getting looked at :)

Slight aside from the wonderful model at hand, but relevant given comments in the thread.....Does anyone do a vac-canopy for this kit?

Unfortunately I don't know of anyone, I couldn't fine one... The kit part is quite thick, but I was surprised how clear it was after a dip in Alclad Aqua Gloss. The only down side is that you can't have the canopy open. Well, you probably can if you're better with a scalpel than I am!!

I've got an Italeri kit with an etch set for the interior and no canopy.....Was thinking about shoehorning the interior into the Airfix kit, but it might be better if my brutal hack-job isn't 100% visible I suppose.

Well done with your 110!

I was not even aware that Airfix had what looks like a "new tool" 110! When did that one come out? An incentive to get one if nothing else, as it seems to make a fine-looking model.

Congrats

Thanks :) yeah the kit is around 4 years or so old now I'd guess. In terms of fit and fun, it's a great little kit! It goes together really well, and the detail is good, but heavy. The Eduard kit (that I've not seen) is supposed to be far superior, but does cost more. If there's a big difference in the cost, then the airfix kit is certainly worth picking up, I loved making it. If the Eduard kit is available and reasonably close in terms of cost, I'd go for that :)

Did you use the kit decals?

Its a real cracker!!

Roger.

Hi and thanks :)

Yes I did. I was a little nervous as I'd heard many bad things about them, but other than lining up the underside of the hornet decals, they were brilliant. I just used microset and microsol over Alclad Aqua gloss and they performed perfectly, I found them thin and strong, and they conformed well. A million miles better than the Tamiya decals I've just used on my Mustang III! The Swastikas are Xtradecal.

Thanks again :)
