Hello Phil

I know what you mean about availability of RoKAF Phantom pictures, here are the few I have collected from various sites over the years, I hope they are of some help.

Thanks gents, all very useful, nice model too.

I did honestly try google, repeatedly and came to the conclusion there wasn't much! You chaps have had better luck than me though as those shots are ideal!

Weapons load out is main interest, it looks like they carry the Gun pods, any suggestions on AtoA missiles? What version of AIM 9 did they use? I'm thinking of doing an early 90s 'Cloud scheme' much like yours, I notice an LGB under the wing....

Here's an early picture around the early 80's, with 4 AIM-9P's,

and a later picture early 2000's, also with 4 x AIM-9P's and gunpod on the centre line.

I've never seen a picture of a RoKAF "D" with AIM-7 so don't know if they ever carried them, they definitely didn't carry AIM-120. Later in life I think the "D" was mostly consigned to the A2G role so early Paveways with Pavespike and good old dumb bombs were the norm.

The AN/ALR-69(V)-2 RHAW "Herpes" mod stems from while the A/C were in service with the USAFRes, not sure if all RoKAF F-4D's have them or just the ones delivered later on from ex US stocks.

My build was converted from a F-4J using the Airdoc C/D 48009 conversion set which came with 3 different housings as well as the non slotted stabilizers.

The decals came from Hi Decal.

IIRC, there was a couple of pretty good walkarounds of RoKAF F-4D on a Korean site called "Gustav's Aerobase".

Unfortunately the site became unavailable for Russian IP long time ago.

Thanks, tried a quick google but I just got, what looked like a Korean ISP sales page, so I assume it's gone, my Korean is a little rusty though.....

From this F-4D:

Maybe you'll find something useful here:

Good nose closeup here:

These may be worth a look (no guarantees as I didn't really dig into the sites):

I don't think all the RoKAF F-4Ds have AN/ALR-69, just the top-ups from the USAF after the F-4D was retired from US service. I'd think that the original deliveries were standard and haven't been upgraded; for example 64-0493 in Roof Rat's first picture was passed from the USAF to Korea in 1968 as one of the Peace Pheasant I deliveries and was one of the first F-4Ds built.

The 'Herpes' mod nose sensor is in the Academy F-4 kits, part G1. You also get the parabrake door with sensors as part G8. They're fairly easy to adapt to other kits with a little fettling - I've done this with my ongoing conversion of a pair of Hasegawa F-4Js to a F-4C and F-4D using the spare bits from the Academy F-4.

64-0493 has partial "Herpes"(he wasn't as dirty :banghead:) you can just make out the sensor on the front of the fairing, however it would appear that 6x-0755 doesn't have "Herpes"(he was a good boy).

I need to do a thorough search when I get time and try and match which a/c has what."
