I have recently moved house into a brand new build, and have finally managed to get around to doing some modelling at last..(yay!!!!!) Anyway, the better half is not happy about me using aerosols in the house (no where outside to do the spraying either and considering what the weather has been like, I wouldn't want to be doing it outside anyway!) I do have a couple of airbrushes that I use, and was wondering what would people recommend using as a primer instead of the likes of Halfords plastic primers, Tamiya fine primers etc that can be used from an airbrush. would also need a recommendation that can be used with White paints as currently in the middle of Academy's F4-B and I have the F3H Demon from Hobby Boss to do as well. Black Knight Posted November 4, 2013 Share Posted November 4, 2013 Just about any matt paint can be used as a primer. Give your model a good clean to make sure the the paint will adhere. I appreciate that I could get some this weekend at SMW but due to lack of funds and not working, cant afford to get up there. Tomjw Posted November 4, 2013 Share Posted November 4, 2013 You can decant Halfords plastic primers into a jar for use in an airbrush. Search BM as there are a few threads on the subject. You don't need to thin it. Just remember to allow the decanted primer to de-gas by leaving the lid off for a few hours. Works for me. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
