Speedman
Built for the A-4 group build. Scratch built flaps, nose gear collar, bridle hooks, aileron inhibiting plates, Landing light (with white cover), tail light, RBF tag and windscreen wiper. Other than that OOB. modelglue
Nice crisp/clean build. I prefer to see some panel definition myself but I completely appreciate what you did here. The control it takes to achieve such a finish is its very own discipline.
Speedman
Nice crisp/clean build. I prefer to see some panel definition myself but I completely appreciate what you did here. The control it takes to achieve such a finish is its very own discipline. As much as I love weathering my builds, as you see from the photo below the exhibited aircraft is in beautiful condition and most of the panel lines are impossible to see. I've got a couple of close up shots and they still are hard to make out. The only things I found from looking through photos were some light oil/grease stains on the undercarriage, discolouration of the main tyres and some rust around the centreline pylon. (all of which I've reproduced) It was so tempting to give it a wash but I wanted to keep it as close as possible to the real exhibit. I even struggled with matching the paint sheen, first time I've not used a matt or semi-gloss varnish as final coat as they would have looked too dull. In the end I went with a light coat of Clear. It's been nice to get back to dirtying up my planes since this one

Pat C
Very nice build. Interesting looking at the blade aerial (plus other details) on the museum exhibit that Airfix do seem to have modelled this specific airframe and that an in service A-4B does need some mods (if you are that way inclined of course!). DannyB
Cracking finish Speedman, that's looking really good! If I can get my A4 anywhere close to this I'd be over the moon.
Speedman
Cheers guys Interesting looking at the blade aerial (plus other details) on the museum exhibit that Airfix do seem to have modelled this specific airframe and that an in service A-4B does need some mods (if you are that way inclined of course!). Pat Yeah, it's one of the main criticisms this kit gets in builds & reviews. That's what got me thinking about doing the exhibit itself, my build is not 100% accurate but it was something different to do. Plus there's hundreds of reference photos of the exhibit online which helps
