Alan P
I get the same feeling of admiration watching this come together as when I watched the Lord of the Rings films - the determination to be able to visualise and conjure into reality something that has to be constructed entirely from scratch. Bravo ;-)
Fozzy
Hi everyone Thanks a lot chaps for your comments... Here is a quick update.....I managed to replicate the other window aperture for the Starboard side...no pics as its the same as the port one and I didn't want to bore you with it!!! I also finished the internal wall detail for the top half and have started on the bulkhead that gives access to the rear of the instrument panel Here are some snaps................ I thought I could see the light at the end of the tunnel approaching but I was fooled when I started to look at photos of the real B17G.....it shouted out loud "Your having a laugh!!" .....loads more to do!!!! Until the next exciting??? installment....its ciao from me!

Fozzy
Hi Guys...from a very frustrated Model Maker!! I am sure we all get frustrated with our hobby at times!....well that time is or was this last couple or so days for me...... All I wanted to do is place a bulkhead onto the cockpit floor ....for what will eventually take the Instrument panel.......could I do it?....yes....but after about 50 attempts at it !!! what ever I did ....just didn't look right...the bulkhead was either too far forward or too far back......in the end I settled with in the middle!!! That's the problem with scratch building (as I am sure a lot of you know)....no instructions /no diagrams /plans.. I could really have done with some with this part instead of the odd photo! Any ways I have done it and although it doesn't look much ...its another step forward to finishing this flipping B17 ! here's the pics................ All that hassle for 3 photos!!!! I'll post again when I have bashed on with the next part!! Cheers

brianthemodeller
Go on Fozzy, you know you really WANT to... ...just think about all that lovely wiring on the engines and how much fun riveting all those panels will be! In fact, how about a Mustang in the same scale as an escort or even a diarama with an Me262 attacking it

LOL  What a great idea lads!! ....then maybe I could do a cutaway on all the engines showing all the pistons working ...and.... and .....I could even do a cutaway on each pilots stomach and show the eggs and bacon they had for breakfast before the mission!.... ...and I really have to go to bed as I am feeling quite ill! Mattlow
Fozzy What a spectacular piece of work! You have really made this sort of scratchbuilding your own. I think that even though, by your own admission, it isn't 100% accurate you have nonetheless really captured the feel and spirit of the aircraft - just like with the Se5a. I love what you're doing and you may have given me an idea for a project of my own.... Matt

Fozzy
Hello all Time for an update and I have to say that I am happy that most of the hard work is complete and now its down to the more interesting stuff!! In this selection of photos you can see that I have prepared ...for want of a better word....a blank canvas in ready ness to start adding all the detail. ...but lets start with the rudder pedals ....and I am not going to tell you how many attempts it took to get them looking like this!!! For the frame work I used scrap plastic and a piece of garden twine wire...and the pedals I used some old copper strips ....bit of super glue and .............................. ....they look so much better with paint on.....covers up all the mistakes!! The next and last set of photos show the internal walls and floors all ready to be detailed..................... I am going to start detailing from the front end to the rear....one piece at a time....I'll be back with an update as soon as I have done something!!!
