Nice builds.

I hated 702, we had it in our squadron. Three times it was retired from service, three times we stripped it, three times we built it back up to put back in service. Eventually it was put out of service, it was given a fresh paint job so it could be mounted on a pole. The night before it was to be mounted some doofous pried open the canopy so he could steal the helmet off the dummy in the cockpit. This could not have been a Hornet maintainer as we knew how to open up the canopy without damaging it. So we had to fix the damage and spent more time working on our hangar queen.

Finally it went up on the pole! But this wasn't the end of this nightmare. The mounting bolts busted, the jet dropped to the ground and the nose broke off. That was the end of 702, another retired jet went on the pole and 702 was used for ABDR.

The company that provided the bolts didn't properly heat treat them and that is why the bolts failed.
