cross kitting 1/72 airfix and matchbox Mosquitos

Coincidentally, I just built a Matchbox Mossie and, although it wasn't exactly a cross-kit, I did use a number of Airfix components in the build, including undercarriage legs, prop / spinners, IP and so on, to come up with a Mossie PR Mk XVI.

Likewise...

De Havilland Mosquito PR.XVI, TA614/R of the 858th Squadron, USAAF, 492nd (P) BG, based at Harrington, 19 March 1945. These Mosquitos used the Joan-Eleanor VHF system, a highly classified communications system not declassified until 1976. This sophisticated system was undetected by the Germans. J-E missions consisted of a pilot, a navigator and an O.S.S. operator in a rear fuselage compartment, aft of the bomb bay, which was fitted with an oxygen system and modified to accept the SSTR-6 transceiver and wire recorder. The first successful operational use of the system was made on 22 November 1944.

Yes, that's a great colour scheme for a Mossie. There was a vac belly from Aeroclub years ago. It might be worth asking John if he still has one.

David

have sent a PM to John but no reply so I have settled on a late post war scheme (black undersides/grey top side Night Fighter (totally different to what I first set out to achieve!)

this means no need to detail the bombaimers nose position and no need to alter the canopy type needed for a bomber! lazy mossie!
